Manoj Santoshi, Writer of ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain,’ Dies at 48

Renowned television writer Manoj Santoshi, best known for his work on popular comedy shows such as ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’, ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’, and ‘Jija Ji Chhat Par Hain’, sadly passed away on March 23, 2025, in Hyderabad. The man who brought laughter to countless screens has left his fans and loved ones in mourning.

Born in 1976 in Ramghat, Bulandshahr, Manoj initially aspired to be a singer, even relocating to Mumbai to pursue his dreams. However, a serendipitous encounter with a writer set him on a different path, leading him to discover his true passion for scriptwriting.

His sharp wit and humorous storytelling transformed ordinary scenarios into comedic treasures, earning him a revered place in the Indian television industry.

Despite establishing his career in Mumbai, Aligarh held a special place in his heart. Manoj often returned to the city, not only for work but to indulge in its famous kachoris, which he adored. He was also instrumental in providing a national platform for local talents like Sumit Saraf and Sanjay Maheshwari.

Beyond his comedic genius, Santoshi maintained a strong connection to sports and fitness. In February 2022, he visited Aligarh for the unveiling of the Pro Kabaddi League logo at Varshney College, emphasizing his belief that sports go beyond mere entertainment and play a vital role in fostering Indian culture and humanity.

Unfortunately, Santoshi had been struggling with a liver condition, and his health worsened in the months leading up to his passing. He left us in a private hospital in Hyderabad. His remains will be taken back to Ramghat, Bulandshahr, where family, friends, and fans will gather to pay their final respects.

BBK12 : The latest episode of Bigg Boss Super Sunday with Sudeep brought several entertaining moments. One of the highlights was when host Kiccha Sudeep asked Gilli if he would like to write a book about the Bigg Boss contestants. Gilli responded with humour and interesting observations.

He first chose Druvanth as a character for his book. Gilli said that Druvanth stays silent throughout the week, but when it is time for nomination, he suddenly turns into a “devil”. His funny description made the audience laugh.
