Mangaluru: Three separate FIRs have been registered in Dakshina Kannada district over allegations of misuse of Form 7 during the voter list revision process.
Two cases were registered at Kavoor Police Station and one at Belthangady Police Station following court directions. Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Padmaraj R. Mithun Rai alleged that Form 7 was misused in an attempt to remove the names of genuine voters from the electoral rolls.
He said that in the Mudushedde Gram Panchayat limits of the Mulki-Moodbidri Assembly constituency, 68 names were allegedly targeted for deletion through Form 7 applications.
According to Rai, 45 applications were submitted in the name of a person identified as Kishan, nine in the name of Rithesh, 10 in the name of Yuvaraj and four in the name of Shashikala. He alleged that the applications were written in the same handwriting.

Tulu Play ‘Gutthonji Kateyaand’ Released in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: The Tulu drama book Gutthonji Kateyaand, written by journalist Rajesh Shetty Dota, was released at the Mangaluru Press Club on Wednesday.
Senior folk scholar Dr. Chinnappa Gowda released the book and said the play highlights the importance of preserving the traditions and cultural heritage of Tulunadu.
He said the play explores the traditional Guttu system of Tulunadu and examines how the younger generation is moving away from these traditions in the modern era.
According to Dr. Gowda, several plays have previously dealt with different aspects of the Guttu tradition. However, Gutthonji Kateyaand attempts to present the conflict between two completely opposite viewpoints in an effective manner.
He noted that the play conveys a strong message that Tulu traditions may continue to survive in different forms even while facing the threat of being forgotten. He expressed confidence that the play would receive a positive response when staged.
Introducing the book, advocate and theatre personality Shashiraj Kavoor said the play has a strong structure and carries the unique flavour of the region. He added that the storytelling style is well suited for a stage production.
