Man Held for Abusive Facebook Post Against Chief Minister and Banu Mushtaq

Mangaluru: A man from Bantwal taluk has been taken into police custody for allegedly posting abusive comments against Karnataka Chief Minister and Banu Mushtaq on social media.

The accused has been identified as Purushottam Acharya, a resident of Barimaru in Bantwal taluk.

According to police sources, during the Dasara festival, a Facebook account named ‘Purusha Acharya’ allegedly posted obscene and derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Banu Mushtaq, who had inaugurated the Dasara celebrations.

A case in this regard was registered at the Sullia Police Station.

With the assistance of the Dakshina Kannada District Police Social Media Monitoring Cell, the Sullia Police traced the accused and took him into custody for interrogation.

Police officials said that further legal action will be taken against the accused in accordance with the law.

Electric Shock Leaves Man Injured After Climbing Transformer

Puttur: A man was injured after climbing a transformer while allegedly under the influence of alcohol near Arun Sabha Bhavan in Puttur.

According to reports, the incident took place near Arun Sabha Bhavan when the man attempted to climb the transformer. During the attempt, he received an electric shock and fell from the structure.

The impact of the fall caused serious injuries. Local residents immediately rushed to help and alerted the 108 emergency ambulance service.

The injured man was taken to the Government Hospital in Puttur for treatment. His condition is reported to be serious.

Man Missing After Leaving for Work in Bantwal

Bantwal: A 37-year-old man who was reportedly addicted to alcohol has gone missing after leaving home for work in Bantwal taluk.

The missing man has been identified as Rajesh, a native of Benjanapadavu. He was staying at his wife’s house in Rai Kuttikala.

According to the complaint, Rajesh had developed a severe drinking habit over the past five to six months. His wife stated that he frequently argued with family members due to his alcohol addiction.

On June 9, Rajesh left home in the morning, saying that he was going to work in the Gurupura-Kaikamba area. However, he did not return home later that day.

Family members tried to contact him, but his mobile phone has remained switched off since then. After searching for him and failing to find any information about his whereabouts, his wife filed a missing person complaint at the Bantwal Rural Police Station.
