Maharashtra Cyber Cell Issues Second Summons to Samay Raina in ‘India’s Got Latent’ Controversy

Published

on

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has issued a second summons to comedian Samay Raina, directing him to appear before the investigating officer on February 17. This summons is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged obscene content featured on his YouTube show, ‘India’s Got Latent.’ However, Raina’s lawyer has informed the authorities that the comedian is currently in the United States and will not return until March 17.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police have issued new summons to several YouTubers, including Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. This action is linked to an investigation stemming from a complaint that claims these influencers promoted obscenity and engaged in explicit discussions on a public platform.

The complaint, lodged by Alok Boruah from Guwahati, led to a case registered at the Guwahati Crime Branch on February 10. It alleges that the accused influencers’ sexually explicit discussions violated public decency and morality. A senior Assam Police official confirmed that a team is currently in Mumbai for further investigations. “We have issued summons to Ashish Chanchlani and Ranveer Allahbadia, and we are proceeding with our inquiries,” the official stated.

In response to the ongoing controversy, comedian Samay Raina recently spoke out via his Instagram Stories, stating, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly.”

Similarly, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, who previously apologized for his comments during the show, acknowledged his “lapse in judgment.” In a self-recorded video shared on social media, he expressed, “I don’t want to be the kind of person who takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. I need to use this platform better.”
