Legal Reforms and a Strong Arbitration Framework Will Enhance Investor Confidence and Drive Economic Growth: Goyal

Goyal urged stakeholders to enhance arbitration practices in India to make them more efficient and unbiased, thereby creating a more welcoming environment for investors. He asserted that effective arbitration and mediation are essential for India’s aspirations to become a global manufacturing hub.
During his address, Goyal outlined the significance of a strong legal and arbitration framework in supporting India’s rapid economic advancement and its goal of being recognized as a major manufacturing center. He showcased India’s impressive economic growth, noting that it is the fastest-growing major economy and is on pace to become the fourth-largest global economy by 2025-26. This growth, he said, can be attributed to significant policy reforms aimed at simplifying business regulations and the decriminalization of over 180 legal provisions under the Jan Vishwas Act. These reforms have enhanced international confidence in India as a dependable investment destination.
He elaborated that the Jan Vishwas initiative was designed to cultivate mutual trust between the government and citizens, reassuring people that the intention is not to impose harsh penalties for minor errors but to simplify processes so mistakes can be rectified through reasonable measures instead of prolonged legal proceedings.
Goyal announced that the government is currently developing Jan Vishwas 2.0, which aims to further streamline legal complexities. “We are striving for an environment where businesses and individuals can operate without unnecessary stress about trivial actions in their daily lives. We welcome any suggestions and are engaging with legal experts to refine laws that make life easier for businesses and citizens,” he stated.
Discussing India’s strengths as a prospective global manufacturing hub, Goyal pointed to factors such as a youthful workforce, technological advancement, and a large domestic market that collectively enhance manufacturing competitiveness. He also noted the country’s digital transformation, particularly through extensive 5G connectivity, which has improved the ease of doing business across India.
Addressing ongoing legal reforms, Goyal emphasized the necessity of modernizing India’s judicial and arbitration systems to align with global standards. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improve arbitration efficiency via technology integration and the adoption of internationally benchmarked legal frameworks.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goyal remarked, “Justice is at the root of independent self-governance, and without justice, even the existence of a nation is not possible.” In conclusion, he called upon the legal community to play a vital role in crafting clear, robust, and globally competitive legal frameworks that would support India’s ambitions as a global economic powerhouse. He emphasized that a strong legal infrastructure is essential for facilitating economic growth and strengthening India’s position as a trusted partner in the global trade landscape.

Pak Media Highlights CM Siddaramaiah’s ‘No War’ Remarks; K’taka BJP Calls Him a ‘Puppet of an Enemy Nation’

Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka shared a video from a Pakistani news channel featuring CM Siddaramaiah’s comments on his X account. Referring to him as “Pakistan Ratna,” Ashoka sarcastically stated in Kannada (translated loosely), “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, you have unexpectedly gained fame in Pakistan because of your juvenile and nonsensical remarks.”
“Congratulations! If you ever visit Pakistan, you can expect a grand reception. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Pakistani government honors you with their prestigious Nishan-e-Pakistan award for being a great ambassador of peace.”
Ashoka emphasized that during such a sensitive period for the nation, where tensions are high at the border, the CM is acting like a “puppet” for the enemy. “Your presence in public life is one of our country’s greatest misfortunes,” he added.
In response to the discussion about retaliating against Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, CM Siddaramaiah stated in Mysuru, “At this time, there is no need to declare war against Pakistan. We must implement stringent security measures instead. We advocate for peace, ensuring that people feel secure, and the Central government must take effective security measures.”
Addressing questions about the Central government acknowledging security lapses related to the Pahalgam attack, he remarked, “I have spoken about the security shortfalls that contributed to this tragedy. Proper arrangements were lacking at a tourist hotspot that draws large crowds. Given the previous loss of 40 soldiers in Pulwama, heightened vigilance was essential.”
He further articulated, “There were both intelligence and security failures. Many believed they were safe, but the Central government did not secure them. The trust placed in them has been betrayed.”
“No matter what measures are taken now, will the 26 lives lost in the Pahalgam attack be restored?” CM Siddaramaiah questioned.
When asked about the absence of security personnel at the site, he replied, “I’m not sure. I still need to speak with State Labour Minister Santosh Lad, who was dispatched to Kashmir for further information.” Minister Lad has since ensured the return of all stranded individuals from Karnataka.
On the subject of repatriating Pakistani nationals from the state, CM Siddaramaiah stated, “We will cooperate fully. We will provide information to the Central government and facilitate their return. I do not have precise data on the number of Pakistani nationals present in various cities of Karnataka, but there is a significant population in Bengaluru.”
Criticizing the Prime Minister, CM Siddaramaiah added, “The Prime Minister should have attended the all-party meeting called following the Pahalgam attack. They are misleading the public. Which matters more — the Bihar election campaign or the all-party meeting?”

NIA Assumes Control of Pahalgam Terror Attack Investigation

Since April 23, the NIA teams have been stationed at the attack site, intensifying their search for evidence. Under the supervision of an Inspector General (IG), a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and a Superintendent of Police (SP) from the anti-terror agency, investigators are meticulously questioning eyewitnesses who witnessed the attack unfold in the serene Baisaran valley. The agency aims to reconstruct the timeline of events leading to this tragic incident, noted the media release.
Investigators are closely examining entry and exit points for clues regarding the terrorists’ methods. Assisted by forensic experts, they are thoroughly scouring the area for evidence that could uncover the conspiracy behind this shocking attack.
On April 22, a group of terrorists targeted tourists in the Baisaran meadows, a popular destination in Pahalgam. The attack resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. Eyewitness accounts describe a harrowing scene in which the attackers asked victims for their religion before opening fire at close range, specifically targeting 25 Hindu men.
A massive operation is underway in the valley to apprehend the perpetrators. Several suspects have been detained, and the homes of ten identified terrorists have been demolished.

Unity of 140 Crore Indians: Our Nation’s Greatest Strength; We Will Respond Decisively to Aggressors: PM Modi in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

He reiterated his commitment to the families of the victims, promising justice and emphasizing that the attackers and their backers would be met with severe repercussions.
In his address, he highlighted that the nation’s greatest strength in the battle against terrorism lies in the unity of its people.
“As I share my thoughts with you today, my heart is heavy with grief. The Pahalgam attack on April 22 has devastated every citizen and ignited deep sympathy for the victims’ families… I know the anger that flows through every citizen upon witnessing the tragic images of this attack,” Mr. Modi said during the 121st episode of the radio program.
He pointed out that the attack signifies the desperation of those who support terrorism. “As peace began to take root in Kashmir, the enemies of our nation could not bear it. They aim to unravel the progress, orchestrating such a significant conspiracy. In our fight against terrorism, national unity is our strongest asset… We must reinforce our resolve to confront this challenge.”
PM Modi expressed his profound sorrow for the pain experienced nationwide due to the attack. “The terror incident in Pahalgam on April 22 has inflicted great sadness on every Indian. The suffering of the affected families resonates throughout the country, transcending state lines and languages. I feel the collective anger as we observe the horrific images from the attack. This tragedy reflects the despair and cowardice of those who sponsor terrorism…”
