Lalu Claims NDA Will Not Form the Next Government in Bihar

Published

on

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has thrown down the gauntlet to leaders of the ruling NDA, challenging their aspirations to replicate Delhi’s political success in Bihar. He asserted that as long as the RJD exists, the BJP will not be able to govern Bihar.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Yadav dismissed the idea that the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, anticipated in October-November, would be influenced by the results of the Delhi elections.

In a pointed rebuke to NDA leaders harboring hopes of capturing power in Bihar, Lalu stated, “How can the BJP form the government in Bihar? The people have seen through the BJP’s tactics.”

His remarks echoed throughout the political landscape, prompting responses from notable NDA figures and underscoring Lalu Prasad Yadav’s continued significance in Bihar’s politics.

In response, Bihar BJP Chief Dilip Jaiswal asserted, “Lalu’s political influence in Bihar is finished. The people of Bihar recognize that his focus is solely on his family.”

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha added, “Bihar has moved on from Lalu Yadav. His presence or absence makes no difference.”

Countering Yadav’s comments, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, a spokesperson for the JDU, claimed that Lalu is out of touch with the realities on the ground in Bihar. He stated, “The NDA has set a target of winning 225 seats in the upcoming 2025 Bihar assembly elections, based on a thorough understanding of the state’s current situation.”

Umesh Singh Kushwaha, JDU’s state president, expressed confidence that the RJD would not regain power in Bihar, predicting, “The will of the public is clear, and the RJD’s fortunes in the next elections will be far worse than those of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. The RJD’s failure to secure a single seat in recent by-elections indicates the voters’ sentiment.”

Ernakulam: A dead Russell’s viper was found on a passenger seat inside a Vande Bharat Express in Ernakulam, causing panic among passengers.

The incident took place on Friday, August 14, at around 2.30 pm. The train was scheduled to leave Ernakulam Junction for Bengaluru.

The incident came to light before the train began its journey. Vinu Varghese, who works for an insurance company in Ernakulam, had booked a ticket to travel to Coimbatore with his two-year-old child.

When he returned to his seat after visiting the restroom, he noticed the dead snake lying on the seat. He was shocked and immediately informed the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) and railway staff.

The railway staff quickly responded to the situation. With the help of passengers, they removed the dead snake from the coach.

After the snake was removed, the passengers felt relieved. Vinu Varghese later filed an official complaint through the railway portal.

In his complaint, he questioned the safety and cleanliness standards on the train. He said passengers pay a significant amount for travelling on Vande Bharat trains and expected better safety measures.

Varghese said the railway staff later apologised for the incident.

The incident has also raised questions about how a snake entered the passenger compartment. Vande Bharat trains are air-conditioned and have sealed gangways and automatic doors that open only at designated stations.
