Kunal Kamra Declares: “I Will Not Apologize”
What triggered the controversy?
The issue began with Kamra’s recent YouTube video where he made a humorous jab at Shinde. This did not sit well with Shiv Sena supporters, leading to the vandalism of Mumbai’s Habitat Centre, a well-known performance venue. The incident sparked significant outrage, raising alarm over freedom of speech and political intolerance.
How did Kunal Kamra react?
In response to the violence, Kamra took to social media to defend his stance. He emphasized that entertainment venues should not bear the brunt of a comedian’s jokes, labeling the attack on Habitat Centre as “absurd.”
“An entertainment venue merely serves as a platform. It does not bear responsibility for my comedy, nor does it dictate what I say or do. Attacking a venue over a comedian’s remarks is as ridiculous as overturning a truck full of tomatoes because you disliked your butter chicken,” Kamra expressed.

Kamra also responded to political figures who threatened consequences, reiterating his right to free speech.
“Freedom of speech is not exclusively for those who praise the powerful. Your inability to take a joke at the expense of a political figure does not negate my rights. As far as I know, making fun of our leaders and our political circus isn’t illegal.”

He further questioned if the law would be applied fairly to those who resorted to vandalism in reaction to his comedy.
“I am willing to cooperate with law enforcement regarding any legal actions taken against me. But will the same law be applied to those who chose vandalism in response to a joke? Will action be taken against the unelected BMC officials who stormed Habitat without notice and caused destruction?”
Kamra made it clear he won’t be intimidated. He even criticized the state of press freedom in India, pointing out its poor global ranking.
“To those leaking my personal information or bombarding me with calls—my voicemail features the very song you despise. To the media covering this spectacle—remember, India ranks 159 in press freedom. I refuse to apologize. My comments reflect sentiments expressed by Mr. Ajit Pawar concerning Mr. Eknath Shinde. I am not afraid of this mob, and I won’t be hiding away.”

Akshay Kumar Responds to ‘Flop Actor’ Remark in Welcome to The Jungle
Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has responded to being called a “flop actor” in the upcoming film Welcome to The Jungle. He said the dialogue should be understood as part of the movie and not taken personally.
Speaking at the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Akshay explained that such dialogues are written to suit the story and the character. He said audiences should view them in the context of the film.
“We are not told to use such dialogues as taunts. When you watch a movie, you should understand it according to the character and the story. Thank you for feeling bad about it, but please do not take it so seriously,” Akshay said.
The trailer of Welcome To The Jungle runs for more than four minutes and features a mix of comedy, action, and adventure. Unlike the earlier films in the franchise, the story is set in a jungle.
Akshay plays a struggling actor who is trying to revive his career after a series of unsuccessful films. His fortunes appear to improve when he gets a new film opposite a successful actress, played by Jacqueline Fernandez.
However, the film shoot turns into a real-life adventure when the crew reaches a village near the border. The villagers mistakenly believe the actors are soldiers and ask them to protect the village from a dangerous gang led by Jackie Shroff.
