Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued a stern warning on Sunday about the escalating influence of the drug mafia, which is wreaking havoc across society. During the passing-out parade for sub-inspector cadets, he spoke out against the harmful effects of synthetic drugs, emphasizing that they rob individuals of their humanity.

Vijayan remarked, “The drug mafia, which has been spreading like wildfire in recent times, is destroying society indiscriminately, affecting people of all ages and genders.”

He underscored the importance of aiding those ensnared by addiction in their journey toward normalcy. He also commended the proactive efforts of the Excise and Police departments in tackling drug-related offenses.

In light of recent drug seizures from various locations, including college campuses, the Chief Minister has called for a high-level meeting on March 24 to review current strategies and plan future initiatives. This meeting will include ministers and senior officials from both the police and excise departments, focusing on coordinated operations against the drug mafia.

Additionally, a significant joint meeting between the Police and Excise Departments has resolved to launch a comprehensive statewide initiative targeting drug networks. ADGP Manoj Abraham has been appointed as the coordinator, with the Excise Commissioner taking on the role of nodal officer for the operation.
