Kalki Koechlin is known for her frankness, and she’s once again addressing the unrealistic beauty standards prevalent in the film industry. During a revealing conversation on the BBC World Service podcast Dear Daughter, the actress from Dev D recounted a surprising incident in which a producer suggested she consider filler treatments for her laugh lines.

Remembering the encounter, Kalki stated, “I recall a producer mentioning… He was reflecting on his ex, a well-known actress, and remarked, ‘Oh, she went a bit overboard with the Botox.’ Then he turned to me and said, ‘All you need is a little filler for your laughter lines.’ I felt like stabbing him with my fork while we were having lunch.”

Yes, you read that correctly—lunch, unsolicited beauty advice, and that producer’s audacity! Rather than reacting negatively, Kalki chose to respond humorously. “I smiled and said, ‘Well, I should probably stop smiling so much. I should stop laughing so much then.’”

Now in her 40s, Kalki recognizes the heavy pressure particularly faced by younger women in the industry. She is aware that 20-year-olds are often encouraged to change their appearances, leading them to feel insecure about natural aging far too soon.

Yet, she remains steadfast in her decision not to conform. “Now there’s a new layer—age. The fact that I have wrinkles is evident while I’m still in front of the camera. Personally, I don’t want to alter my face, so I must feel comfortable with that.”

And she certainly does! Kalki was last seen in ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’, alongside Adarsh Gourav and Ananya Panday. Up next, she will take on a new role in the Tamil film ‘Nesippaya’, portraying Indirani Jahan, a lawyer based in Portugal.

BBK12 : The latest episode of Bigg Boss Super Sunday with Sudeep brought several entertaining moments. One of the highlights was when host Kiccha Sudeep asked Gilli if he would like to write a book about the Bigg Boss contestants. Gilli responded with humour and interesting observations.
