In a statement to the media, Kher referred to the Mahakumbh as a source of national pride. “A multitude of saints has gathered here, creating an atmosphere filled with divine energy. Everyone is on their spiritual journey, and witnessing this is truly a proud moment for all of us,” he articulated.
Film producer Boney Kapoor also took part in the Mahakumbh rituals that day. Reflecting on his previous visits to Prayagraj, Kapoor noted that he had never encountered such a remarkable spiritual congregation. “I’ve visited multiple times—once to immerse my grandfather’s ashes and another for an event. But this is the first time I’ve seen such an immense crowd, underlining the vastness and profound connection of our country,” Kapoor expressed.

The scale of the Mahakumbh Mela has been staggering, with record numbers of devotees arriving to partake in the holy dip. By 2 PM on Sunday, over 607.4 million devotees had immersed themselves in the sacred waters of the Sangam—the convergence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati—according to the Uttar Pradesh government. The state’s information department further reported that approximately 8.77 million devotees participated in the rituals on that single day.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that an astounding 620 million pilgrims have visited the Mahakumbh Mela thus far. To manage the enormous influx of visitors, authorities have enforced strict crowd control measures, particularly at the Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage experience.
The Mahakumbh Mela, recognized as one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings, began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, culminating in the celebration of Maha Shivratri.

Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ Set to Premiere on June 20, According to Reports

The report cites a source close to the film’s production, hinting at strategic plans. “Aamir wants to take advantage of the open box office window in June. He considered a May 30 release initially, but the June 20 date allows for a two-week uncontested run,” the source revealed. Additionally, it was shared that ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ will delve into themes akin to the 2007 hit, exploring empathy and the emotional complexities surrounding mental health. “Aamir is passionate about the content of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ as it embodies his trademark blend of humor, emotion, and drama. He has identified a favorable timeframe for release in June, and the marketing strategy for this social dramedy is already finalized.”
Furthermore, the filmmakers are reportedly keen to unveil the movie’s trailer alongside Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2.’ Experts anticipate that the sequel will perform well at the box office, making it a suitable platform for the trailer. “The goal is to clearly communicate the release date to audiences, and ‘Raid 2’ is expected to attract significant viewership.”
Following the lukewarm response to his previous film, ‘Laal Singh Chadha,’ Aamir is optimistic about this upcoming project. At the Republic Day celebrations in Gujarat, he shared insights on the film’s release, stating, “My next venture as a lead actor is ‘Sitaare Zameen Par.’ We’re aiming for a release by Christmas this year. It’s an entertaining film, and I appreciate the storyline. Filming has already commenced.”
Additionally, during his appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Aamir discussed the film in an interview with Deadline Hollywood, clarifying that while it shares thematic links with ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ it features new characters and a fresh plot. Reports indicate that the film is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Champions.’
Alongside Aamir, the movie will showcase talents like Genelia Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary, among others.

‘Jaat’ Sparks Legal Controversy: Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda Face Charges

On Wednesday, the Jalandhar police lodged a complaint against Deol, Hooda, Malineni, and the producers of the film. The complaint cites section 299 (which addresses intentional and malicious actions aimed at outraging religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the complaint, a particular scene from ‘Jaat’ “deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Christian community.” It alleges that the director, writer, and producer purposely released the film during the sacred period of Good Friday and Easter to incite anger among Christians and provoke riots across the country.
For those unfamiliar, the film recently provoked strong reactions from the Christian community due to a specific scene. In this sequence, Randeep Hooda is depicted inside a church, standing beneath a crucifix while a congregation prays nearby. The atmosphere in this scene is rife with violence and intimidation.
Produced in collaboration by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, the film features the music of S Thaman and cinematography by Rishi Punjabi, with editing by Naveen Nooli and art direction by Avinash Kolla. This action film marks director Gopichand Malineni’s debut in Hindi cinema. In addition to Deol and Hooda, the film also stars Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra.
Meanwhile, following a modest box office performance, the filmmakers announced a sequel titled ‘Jaat 2’ on April 17. Sunny Deol took to Instagram on Thursday to share the news, posting a teaser poster with the caption, “#Jaat on to a New Mission! #Jaat2.” The poster confirms that Gopichand Malineni will return to direct the sequel, with Mythri Movie Makers also set to produce it again. However, aside from Sunny Deol, there has been no confirmation regarding other cast members returning for the sequel.
