The daughter of acclaimed actors Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts recently opened up to ‘Interview’ magazine, candidly discussing her aspirations, challenges, and inspirations.

Kai, who made a striking debut at Paris Fashion Week this year, is clear about her ambitions: “I want to be a supermodel. Period.” This isn’t just a fleeting dream; it’s a goal she has diligently pursued for years, even practicing her runway walk at home. “My mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film,” she shared with a laugh.

Her passion for fashion and desire for recognition as a glamorous and powerful figure have been longstanding. Kai recounted her childhood dreams of being “a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn Monroe.” Navigating her gender identity has only intensified her quest for self-expression and confidence.

What stands out in Kai’s journey is her appreciation for community. She highlighted the significance of connecting with other transgender individuals in the fashion realm. “It’s fantastic that there’s a strong community of us in the fashion world; it’s really a doll takeover,” she expressed proudly. “Having that sense of community is crucial, especially in the face of adversity.”

Kai draws inspiration from pioneers like Hari Nef, known for her role in ‘Transparent’, and ‘Euphoria’ star Hunter Schafer, who have both enhanced trans visibility in fashion and media. “I will always admire the older generation of transgender people, especially in fashion,” she said.

This interview marks the first time Kai has publicly addressed her gender identity, despite already making waves in the industry. After walking for Valentino at Paris Fashion Week, she also featured in one of the brand’s ad campaigns.

Liev Schreiber recently shared insights about Kai’s journey during a conversation with ‘Variety’, recalling the impactful moment she asked him and Naomi Watts to use her chosen pronouns. “Kai is such a fighter,” he remarked with pride. “It’s vital for her to assert, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me.’”

When asked about advice for other parents navigating their children’s exploration of gender identity, Liev took a thoughtful approach. “I don’t know the answer for your kid,” he reflected. “Every experience is unique, and for me to provide guidance feels like an overstep.”

Liev and Naomi, who were together from 2005 to 2016, share two children: Kai and their son Sasha, now 17. In 2023, Liev married Taylor Neisen, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Hazel Bee.
