Prime Minister Modi Engages with IAF Personnel at Nal Air Base in Bikaner

During his brief visit, approximately three and a half hours long and a month following the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi landed at Nal IAF airport at 10:15 am.
At the air base, he engaged with airmen and members of the IAF, commending them for their achievements in Operation Sindoor.
After a brief stay at Nal air base, the Prime Minister proceeded by helicopter to Deshnoke to visit the renowned Karni Mata shrine, where he performed Aarti and other rituals, praying for the nation. He was accompanied by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Union Minister Arjun Lal Meghwal.
Following this, PM Modi inaugurated the renovated Deshnoke railway station and committed infrastructure projects valued at about ₹26,000 crore to the nation.
During the event, he inaugurated 103 revamped railway stations, including eight in Rajasthan under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, marking a significant advancement in the modernization of Indian Railways.
These revamped Amrit Stations span 86 districts across 18 states and Union Territories and were developed at a cost exceeding ₹1,100 crore.
The Deshnoke railway station, designed in line with temple architecture featuring arches and columns, serves pilgrims and tourists visiting the Karni Mata Temple and surrounding attractions.

Trump Reiterates Use of Trade to Address Indo-Pak Conflict; Congress Challenges Modi’s Silence

The President further emphasized that the U.S. is engaged in significant deals with both Pakistan and India. “We’re finalizing a major agreement with India and with Pakistan… Someone had to be the last to act, but tensions were rising. Pakistan has remarkable leaders, and India is my ally,” he added.
His comments elicited a fierce response from the Opposition Congress, which criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his lack of response to Trump’s claims. “This is the eighth time President Trump has asserted he halted Operation Sindoor through trade negotiations with India. Not once has Prime Minister Modi denied this,” remarked Congress leader Pawan Khera in a post on X on Thursday. “What does this silence imply?” Khera questioned.
Earlier this month, India and Pakistan were on the brink of war following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. In retaliation, India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror camps situated in Pakistan and Pakistani-administered Jammu and Kashmir. While Indian strikes aimed at terror facilities, the Pakistani military retaliated by targeting civilian areas and military and religious sites, which Indian air defenses successfully neutralized.
Subsequently, India targeted several Pakistani air bases and an air defense unit in Lahore. As the situation escalated, Trump announced a ceasefire via social media. Following his announcement, both India and Pakistan confirmed this development, raising questions about Trump’s claims of involvement.
Although India asserts that the ceasefire was directly negotiated between the two nations, Trump has contended that he threatened both countries with trade restrictions if they did not agree to halt hostilities.

Direct Negotiations Between India and Pakistan Result in Ceasefire Agreement: Jaishankar

“Yes, we have a hotline for communication. On May 10th, it was the Pakistani army that communicated its willingness to ceasefire, and we responded accordingly,” Jaishankar, currently in Europe, told NOS, a Netherlands-based outlet in an interview.
When questioned about the role of the U.S. in the ceasefire, Jaishankar explained that multiple countries were in contact with both India and Pakistan. However, he emphasized that India made it clear that Pakistan should communicate directly with them. “The U.S. was not the only party involved; several other nations, including some Gulf states, reached out to us and the Pakistani side as well. It’s natural for countries to express concern during conflicts and suggest ways to assist,” he said, stressing that the ceasefire was directly negotiated between India and Pakistan.
Jaishankar pointed out that India communicated to all interlocutors that if Pakistan wished to halt the hostilities, this needed to be communicated directly to their Indian counterparts. “We made it clear to every nation that spoke to us—not just the U.S.—that if Pakistan wants to stop firing, they need to convey this to us directly. Their general should contact our general,” he added.
His comments come amid a significant political uproar in India, following Trump’s social media announcement regarding the ceasefire, which was only confirmed by India and Pakistan afterward. Trump also claimed that he warned both nations that the U.S. would reconsider trade relations if hostilities continued.
Following Trump’s comments, the Opposition Congress party has raised concerns over U.S. involvement in Indo-Pak disputes, referencing the Simla Agreement which stipulates that such matters should be resolved bilaterally without third-party intervention.
