Jaya Bachchan Criticizes ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’: “Is This Really a Name?”
At a recent India TV Conclave, she caused quite a stir by questioning the name. “Just look at the title of the film; I would never choose to watch a movie with such a name. Is that really a name?” she said.
She then engaged the audience, asking if they would be willing to watch a film with a title like that. When only a handful of people raised their hands, she joked, “Out of so many people, hardly four are interested—it’s quite disappointing. This is a flop.”
For those unfamiliar, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ features Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in a unique love story with a social message. The plot revolves around Keshav (played by Akshay), a man from a small town whose wife Jaya (played by Bhumi) leaves him upon discovering their home lacks a toilet.
Keshav then embarks on a mission to confront deeply rooted traditions to provide basic sanitation for his wife and their community. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is not just entertaining; it carries a powerful message supporting the Swachh Bharat initiative. It addresses the pressing issue of open defecation in rural India through a blend of humor, drama, and social commentary. Alongside Akshay and Bhumi, the film also features Anupam Kher, Divyenndu, Sudhir Pandey, and Ayesha Raza Mishra in significant roles.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay retained the Perambur constituency after winning from two seats in the Assembly election and resigned from the Tiruchchi East seat.
Reports now suggest that popular actor, director, and choreographer Raghava Lawrence may contest the upcoming by-election from Tiruchchi East on behalf of Vijay’s TVK party. The news has been widely discussed on social media.
Raghava Lawrence is known for his charitable work and support for differently-abled people, orphaned children, and senior citizens. His strong public image is seen as an advantage if he enters the race.
Earlier, rumours claimed that actress Trisha Krishnan would contest from the constituency, but those reports were later dismissed.

The by-election for Tiruchchi East has not yet been announced, and there has been no official confirmation regarding the party’s candidate. However, reports indicate that Vijay may choose a close associate to contest from the seat.
Film : Kannada star actor Duniya Vijay is set to appear in the upcoming Telugu film Slum Dog. The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and is directed by Puri Jagannadh.
The film has already created a positive buzz in the Telugu film industry. Reports suggest that Duniya Vijay will be seen in a unique and important role.
The makers have announced that the first teaser of Slum Dog will be released on June 8. They also shared a new poster featuring Vijay Sethupathi holding a blood-stained weapon.
The film is said to be based on life in a slum and revolves around a beggar mafia story. Earlier, the team released a poster of Duniya Vijay in a colorful outfit and hat, creating curiosity about his character.

Director Puri Jagannadh has high hopes for the film after a series of setbacks. The movie is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur. Veteran actress Tabu plays the female lead
Film: Kannada actor and filmmaker Rakshit Shetty celebrated his birthday on June 6 with fans and film personalities showering him with wishes on social media.
Special birthday posters and tribute videos were released by production houses to mark the occasion. Hashtags such as #HBDRakshitShetty and #HappyBirthdayRakshitShetty trended among fans.
