The 97th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, not only honored outstanding cinematic achievements but also showcased the talent of Indian designers, whose work made a significant impact on the red carpet and beyond. The evening presented a beautiful blend of international glamour and Indian artistry.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, added an Indian flair to Hollywood by gracing the event in a stunning red saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The elegant drape, complemented by exquisite jewellery from Sabyasachi High Jewellery, radiated timeless elegance.

Showcasing the pride of Indian fashion, Thai singer and actress Lalisa Manoban mesmerized the audience during her performance in a black tonal leotard by Rahul Mishra. This piece, from Mishra’s Spring Couture 2025 collection titled ‘Gaian Genesis’, harmoniously fused contemporary design with intricate artistry.

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar turned heads at the illustrious Vanity Fair Oscars party, sporting a tailored all-black suit by Gaurav Gupta, renowned for his avant-garde creations. A behind-the-scenes video shared by Instagram account Diet Sabya captured Johar preparing for the event, showcasing his meticulous attention to fashion. His ensemble featured subtle golden accents that added a touch of luxury to the sleek monochrome look.

While fashion and Indian designers were in the spotlight, the night ultimately celebrated Anora, which took home five Oscars, including Best Picture. Directed by Sean Baker, the film also won awards for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Actress for Mikey Madison.

In contrast, Demi Moore, a strong contender for Best Actress for her performance in The Substance, did not secure the award despite previously winning accolades at the Critics Choice, SAG, and Golden Globe ceremonies.
