India Shines in Women’s Wrestling at Sr Asian Championships: One Silver and Two Bronze Medals in Amman

India continued its impressive medal tally at the 2025 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Amman, Jordan, securing one silver and two bronze medals on Thursday. On the third day of competition, the spotlight shifted to women’s wrestling, where Indian athletes showcased their skills, with Reetika clinching a silver medal while Muskan and Mansi Lather each earned a bronze.

The highlight of the day was Reetika, who achieved India’s first silver medal in the championship. She kicked off her campaign with an impressive 10-0 victory over South Korea’s Seoyeon Jeong in the qualification round.


In a significant upset, she triumphed over Japan’s formidable competitor, Nodoka Yamamoto, by fall in the semifinal. However, in a fiercely contested gold medal match, she narrowly lost to Kyrgyzstan’s Aiperi Medet Kyzy with a score of 6-7, earning the silver.

India’s first bronze medal of the day was claimed by Muskan (59kg), who began with a commanding 10-0 victory against Arian G. Carpio from the Philippines. Despite suffering a tough loss of 12-2 to Japan’s Sakura Onishi, she bounced back in the bronze medal match, winning 4-0 against Mongolia’s Altjin Togtokh.

The second bronze medal came from Mansi Lather (68kg), who opened her campaign with a decisive 10-0 win over Sheng F. Cai from Chinese Taipei. Although she advanced to the semifinal due to an injury to her next opponent, she faced a setback, losing 1-10 to China’s Zelu Li. Nevertheless, she rallied in the bronze medal match, defeating Kazakhstan’s Irina Kazyulina 12-2.

The President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, remarking that Indian wrestling is on the path to recovery after a challenging two-year period.

To date, India has earned a total of five medals (1 silver and 4 bronze) in the championship, including two bronze medals in the Greco-Roman category from Sunil Kumar and Nitesh, who finished third in men’s 87kg and men’s 97kg, respectively.

As the competition continues, excitement builds for India’s top women grapplers Antim, Manisha, and Jyoti Berwal, who will compete in their respective categories on Friday, providing more opportunities for medals.

Hyderabad: A video of MS Dhoni boarding the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team bus has gone viral on social media, raising questions about his return to action.

CSK is set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday, April 18, in Hyderabad. Dhoni has already traveled with the squad ahead of the match, and the team itself shared the update on its official X account.

However, there is still no official confirmation on whether Dhoni will play in the upcoming match.

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli missed his 66th IPL half-century by just one run in a match against Lucknow Super Giants. His dismissal left fans disappointed.

Kohli scored 49 runs from 34 balls. He hit six boundaries and one six. He looked in good form during the chase.

He got out while trying to reach his fifty. Avesh Khan bowled the ball. Nicholas Pooran took the catch.

Injury Concern for Virat Kohli Ahead of RCB vs LSG Clash

Mangaluru: There is uncertainty over the availability of Virat Kohli for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday.

Kohli is currently dealing with an ankle strain. He did not take the field in the previous match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.

During the latest training session, Kohli was seen at the nets. However, he mostly focused on light running drills. He also had strapping on his leg. This raised fresh concerns among fans.

Despite the injury, Kohli has been in good form this season. He has scored 179 runs in four matches. His average is 59.66. His strike rate stands at 162.72. He has also scored two half-centuries, with a best of 69 not out.

In the last match against Mumbai Indians, Kohli scored 50 runs from 38 balls. He hit five fours and one six. However, he did not look at his fluent best.

RCB had a strong batting performance in that game. Phil Salt scored 78 runs off 36 balls. Rajat Patidar added a quick 53 from 20 balls. The team posted a huge total of 240 for 4.

Mumbai Indians fought hard in reply. Sherfane Rutherford scored an unbeaten 71 off 31 balls. However, the team finished at 222 for 5. RCB won the match by 18 runs.
