Imtiaz Ali Kicks Off Filming for New Movie Starring Avinash Tiwary and Aditi Rao Hydari
While details about the plot are scarce, early reports indicate that the narrative will explore the emotional intricacies of an extramarital affair.
This film is one of three projects on Ali’s agenda, with a romantic comedy called ‘Idiots of Istanbul,’ starring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri, scheduled to follow.
Additionally, the cast is said to include Arjun Rampal and Ahsaas Channa in pivotal supporting roles, marking Ali’s first collaboration with Rampal. Ali has previously worked with Tiwary in ‘Laila Majnu’ (2018) and directed Hydari in ‘Rockstar’ (2011).

Beyond his latest film, Ali has also contributed to the forthcoming anthology ‘My Melbourne,’ in collaboration with filmmakers Kabir Khan, Rima Das, and Onir. This anthology delves into themes of race, gender, sexuality, and disability through four unique narratives: ‘Nandini,’ ‘Jules,’ ‘Emma,’ and ‘Setara.’ The film is set to premiere in India on March 14.
Discussing ‘My Melbourne,’ Ali highlighted its cultural importance, stating, “Cinema is a bridge that unites cultures, and ‘My Melbourne’ exemplifies this. Each filmmaker has infused their unique style, creating an emotional and thought-provoking experience.”
The trailer for ‘My Melbourne’ has already been released.
