IMPPA Makes Its Debut at Hong Kong Fair to Enhance Bollywood’s Global Presence
Leading the Indian delegation were IMPPA President Abhay Sinha, Vice President Atul Patel, and Ghanshyam Talaviya, the IMPPA Convenor from Gujarat. The participation of SEPC members further underscored India’s commitment to fostering international collaborations.
Under Atul Patel’s guidance, the India Pavilion emerged as a vital platform for highlighting the strength of Indian cinema and equipping producers with tools to enhance their films’ global visibility. Following successful representations at both the Cannes Film Festival and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, this event in Hong Kong significantly reinforced India’s standing in the global film landscape.
The Indian delegation was complemented by notable figures, including Satwant Khanlia, India’s Consul General in Hong Kong, and Vian Cheung, Director of Thailand and South Asia at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Aarti Bhagat, HKTDC Director of Marketing and Promotion, played a crucial role in facilitating discussions between Indian filmmakers and international distributors.
The event served as an excellent platform for networking, co-production ventures, and exploring strategies for expanding the global reach of Indian films. Producers and investors engaged in business-to-business meetings to discuss partnerships aimed at increasing distribution capabilities and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
The delegation also focused on nurturing lasting relationships with international partners, enhancing Bollywood’s appeal for greater business opportunities beyond Indian borders. As the festival concluded, there was a palpable sense of optimism regarding the future of Indian cinema in foreign markets. With continued participation in global film festivals, Bollywood is poised to connect with a wider audience and further establish itself as a formidable global entity.
