The IIFA 2025 Awards stage was filled with emotion as Nitanshi Goel received the prestigious Best Actress award for her portrayal of Phool Kumari in ‘Laapataa Ladies’. The young actress was visibly moved as she accepted this recognition for her work in Kiran Rao’s celebrated film.

Adorned in a stunning ruby-red gown, Nitanshi was presented the award by Bollywood legends Boman Irani and Bobby Deol. Yet, it was her genuine and heartfelt response that truly captivated the audience.

Speaking to ANI after her victory, Nitanshi expressed her surprise, stating, “I honestly didn’t see this coming. While I hoped ‘Laapataa Ladies’ would succeed, winning the award was beyond what I could have imagined. The other nominees were exceptional, and I have great admiration for them. I’m just overwhelmed by the love I’ve received.”

She acknowledged her emotional breakdown on stage, saying, “I know this is becoming a trend! But truthfully, receiving this award is a dream come true for any actor, and tonight, it’s my reality. I just couldn’t hold back my tears.”

During her acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to her mother and to all who embraced her character Phool. “This is for my mom, for everyone who loved Phool, and for those who accepted me as both Nitanshi and Phool. A heartfelt thank you to Kiran ma’am, Aamir sir, and the entire ‘Laapataa Ladies’ team. And of course, to the universe for making this moment happen.”

Nitanshi shared that her initial reaction upon winning was one of disbelief. “I cried, tried to collect my thoughts, and managed to put together a speech. Then, I rushed to hug my mom and Kiran ma’am—it was simply a moment of pure joy.”

Now, with this milestone behind her, Nitanshi is enthusiastic about taking on new projects and collaborating with some of Bollywood’s biggest stars. “There are so many people I’d love to work with,” she shared, adding, “But Shah Rukh sir is at the top of my list! And I’d love to team up with Kartik Aaryan as well.”

Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, ‘Laapataa Ladies’—also known internationally as ‘Lost Ladies’—was released in 2023 and quickly became a fan favorite. This comedy-drama follows the story of two newlywed brides who are accidentally switched during a train journey, leading to a series of unexpected events.

Featuring Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Ravi Kishan alongside Nitanshi, the film has been praised for its engaging narrative and strong performances. While it did not make the Academy Awards longlist for Best International Feature, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ continues to gain affection from audiences across the globe.
