Real Kashmir FC remained in the race for a top finish in the I-League 2024-25 after an impressive 3-1 victory against Inter Kashi at Kalyani Stadium on Sunday.

The away side secured their second victory away from home in 17 matches, taking a strong 2-0 lead by halftime.

This result pushed Inter Kashi off the top position in the league standings, even as they remained tied on 31 points with leaders Churchill Brothers after 17 games. Meanwhile, Real Kashmir climbed to third place with 29 points, just two points behind the leaders.

The goals for Real Kashmir came from Abdou Karim Samb (37’), Paulo Cézar (45+5’), and Gnohere Krizo (90+6’), while Mario Barco (90+5’) was the sole scorer for Inter Kashi.

Despite the final score, it was Inter Kashi who started the match strongly, with Domingo Berlanga and Bryce Miranda combining effectively to penetrate Real Kashmir’s defense.

However, Real Kashmir absorbed the pressure well and gradually took control of the match both physically and tactically. They consistently challenged Inter Kashi’s defense with aerial balls, but their first goal in the 37th minute came from a well-executed ground play.

After finding space on the right flank, Ocran Idan delicately chipped the ball into the path of Karim Samb in the box. The Senegalese striker, known for his miss opportunities, converted with precision, scoring with a perfect first-time volley over goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya and into the far corner.

Following the first goal, confidence surged for Kashmir. Minutes later, Karim Samb missed a header from a corner that could have doubled their lead, but just before the halftime whistle, they struck again. Brazilian Paulo Cézar connected with a free kick curled in from the left, managing to just touch it enough to send it into the net.

Inter Kashi struggled for creativity throughout the match, and as the game progressed, their chances dwindled. Their closest opportunity came late when Bijoy V headed an effort over the bar from a short distance. Spanish substitute Mario Barco managed to score in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but it proved to be too late to make a difference.

Shortly after the restart, Real Kashmir quickly pushed the ball upfield, where Lalramsanga set up Gnohere Krizo inside the box. The Ivorian executed a quick turn before sliding the ball into the bottom corner, securing all three points for Real Kashmir.
