Home Guard Aspirant Kidnapped and Forced Into Marriage in Bihar

Bihar: A shocking case of forced marriage has surfaced in Bihar, bringing attention once again to the illegal practice of “groom kidnapping,” locally known as Pakadua Vivah, where men are abducted and compelled to marry against their will.

According to reports, a young man from Lakhisarai district who was preparing for a Home Guard physical test was allegedly kidnapped by a group of individuals. The accused reportedly gave him a drink mixed with intoxicants, causing him to lose consciousness.

The victim said that when he regained partial awareness, he found himself at a wedding venue. He claimed that he was threatened and forced to perform marriage rituals with a woman while still under the influence of the substance. By the time he fully understood what was happening, the wedding had already been completed.

Authorities are expected to examine the matter, though further official details are awaited.

Man Dies After Assault by Brothers over Daughter’s Marriage

Gadag: A family dispute over a daughter’s marriage ended in tragedy in Karnataka’s Gadag district. A man who was allegedly assaulted by his own brothers has died after undergoing treatment in hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Girishappa Alur (47). He was attacked on February 27 following an argument about his daughter’s marriage. He later died at the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital after his condition worsened.

According to reports, Girishappa and his wife Lakshmi had recently arranged the marriage of their daughter Pavitra with a relative. However, Girishappa’s brothers had opposed the marriage from the beginning.

After the wedding, Girishappa reportedly sent his daughter to seek blessings from her grandparents at his brother’s house. During this visit, an argument broke out. His brothers questioned why they were not consulted about the marriage.

The dispute soon turned violent. It is alleged that Shivakumar Alur, Eeranna Alur, Ratnavva Alur, and Geetha Alur attacked Girishappa and his wife. Girishappa was reportedly beaten with sticks and wooden rods.

He suffered severe injuries to his head, hands, chest, and stomach. His body was covered with bruises after the assault.

Sources said Shivakumar had earlier insisted that the girl should marry a man with a government job. However, Girishappa disagreed and decided to arrange the marriage within the family.

The disagreement reportedly angered his brothers. The assault that followed eventually led to Girishappa’s death.

Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.

Three Reserve Sub-Inspectors Killed After Car Hits Parked Lorry in Chitradurga

Chitradurga: Three Reserve Sub-Inspectors died in a road accident after their car hit a parked lorry in Chitradurga district on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Manjunath, Ambarish, and Sachin.

Two others in the car sustained serious injuries. They are PSI Ishwar and RSI Mahanthesh. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to reports, all five officers were travelling in the same car from Bengaluru to Ballari when the accident occurred.

The car crashed into a lorry that was parked on the roadside. The impact of the collision was very strong.

Four Arrested for Daylight Murder of Notorious Criminal Aluva Atul

Kollam: Police have arrested four men for the brutal murder of notorious criminal Aluva Atul in Kollam, Kerala. The accused have been identified as Noufal, Faisal, Finil Peter, and Shamnath.

According to police, the attackers rammed Atul’s car with an Innova and forced it off the road. They then got out and attacked him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot. A man named Manu, who was travelling with Atul, was also injured and admitted to a hospital.

Police said the murder was carried out as revenge for the 2025 killing of gym owner Santosh, allegedly by Atul and his gang. Atul had recently come out on bail in that case and had come to the police station to sign when the attackers ambushed him.
