Hand Over All Three Cases to the NIA: Manjunath Bhandari
Mangaluru: Following the Union Home Ministry’s decision to transfer the investigation of Suhas Shetty’s murder case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Congress party has demanded that all three recent murder cases in Dakshina Kannada district be handed over to the NIA for investigation.
KPCC Working President Manjunath Bhandari issued a statement urging the Union Home Department to similarly transfer the investigations of the other two murder cases as well. He stated that on April 27, a man named Ashraf was lynched by a mob in Kudpadi. This was followed by the murder of Suhas Shetty on May 1 in Kinnikambla near Bajpe. Just a few weeks later, on May 27, Abdul Rahman was murdered near Kambodi in Kuriyaal.
Bhandari emphasized that there should be no partiality in these investigations. He stated that there is a strong possibility that these three murders are interconnected and might be retaliatory in nature. Therefore, instead of treating the cases with bias — “applying butter to one eye and lime to the other” — the central government should hand over all three cases to the NIA.
He asserted that an NIA probe into all three cases would bring the truth behind the crimes to light, potentially exposing the entire network of communal conflicts in the coastal region. This would also help the public understand the real motives behind these incidents. For this reason, he has urged the central government to transfer all three cases to the NIA.
