Martin Guptill, New Zealand’s white-ball sensation, reminisced about his time opening the batting with current Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the Indian Premier League (IPL). This reflection came on the heels of his remarkable unbeaten 160 runs off just 49 balls in the Legend 90 League on Monday.

In a commanding display, Guptill single-handedly dismantled Big Boys Unikari with his explosive batting. During a quick-fire round of questions, he shared candid insights from the field. Notably, Guptill had played for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2016, where he had the privilege of batting alongside Rohit Sharma.

After his explosive innings, Guptill was asked which cricketer he would love to open with again. He responded, “I’ve batted with him before, and I really enjoy opening the batting with Rohit Sharma.”

Guptill also expressed his desire to face Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, stating, “I would love to take on Hardik Pandya. We’ve had some exciting battles in the past.”

His record-breaking innings for the Chhattisgarh Warriors, which featured 16 massive sixes and 12 boundaries, surpassed the total runs of the entire Big Boys Unikari team (151 runs). Guptill’s astounding performance led the Warriors to a dominating 89-run victory, marking the first 200+ score in the tournament. He reached his century in just 34 balls, the fastest in the competition, and finished unbeaten, setting multiple records in the process.

Similar to Guptill, Rohit Sharma is a contemporary legend in white-ball cricket. Both players have transformed the role of openers in limited-overs formats, recognized for their ability to dismantle any bowling attack with their effortless six-hitting. They both belong to the exclusive group of batters who have scored a double century in ODI cricket.

While Guptill was clearing the boundaries in the Legend 90 League, Rohit Sharma was also making headlines with a fantastic century against England on Sunday.

IPL 2026 : In a dramatic IPL 2026 clash, Royal Challengers Bengaluru player Tim David has landed in controversy for allegedly making an obscene gesture after his team’s thrilling win against Mumbai Indians.

The incident took place during the 54th match of the Indian Premier League in Raipur. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 167 runs in 20 overs and set a competitive target for RCB.

While chasing the target, Royal Challengers Bengaluru needed 15 runs in the final over. The match went down to the last ball, where RCB required two runs for victory. Rasikh Dar helped the team secure a thrilling win in the final delivery.

Soon after the victory, Tim David, who was in the dugout, was seen allegedly showing his middle finger towards the Mumbai Indians camp during the celebrations. The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media and triggered criticism from cricket fans.

Reports suggest that match officials could take disciplinary action against the Australian batter. Under the ICC Code of Conduct, obscene or offensive gestures are considered a serious offence.

Sports: Lucknow Super Giants’ captain Rishabh Pant faced criticism after a failed Super Over decision against Kolkata Knight Riders. LSG sent Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram to bat, with Pooran on strike against Sunil Narine.

Pooran was bowled on the first ball, leading to heavy criticism from fans. Many questioned the decision, especially because Narine had earlier troubled Pooran in a past Super Over.

LSG coach Justin Langer defended the move. He said the team trusted Pooran as he has faced Narine many times and has a strong record against him. He added that teams must back their best players even in difficult moments.

Langer also said Pooran is one of the best T20 players in recent years but is currently low on confidence. He assured that the team is working hard to help him regain form
