Certainly! Here’s a rewritten version of the content:

As the suspense continues over India’s new No. 4 following Virat Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket, skipper Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir announced that the team’s composition will be determined during an intra-squad match before the five-Test series against England starting June 20.

With the team entering a new era in red-ball cricket after the retirements of key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin last year, Gill acknowledged the pressure on the squad but expressed confidence in their capabilities.

“Pressure exists in every tour when aiming for victory as a team. We’ll feel the absence of two experienced players who have helped secure wins for us. Filling their roles won’t be easy, but each series comes with its own set of challenges, and we need to be ready to tackle them,” Gill stated during a pre-departure press conference at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday.

“Though we’re missing two seasoned players, our team has a solid mix of experience and youth,” he added.

Head coach Gambhir echoed these sentiments, saying, “Being in a good mindset is crucial. This five-Test series in England offers a significant opportunity. Whether it’s a fresh slate or not, what matters is the quality of our squad. We’re eager to perform well.”

Bumrah Set for Three Tests

Considering Jasprit Bumrah’s workload, the Indian management has decided to include their ace pacer in just three of the five Tests against England. However, both captain Shubman Gill and mentor Gautam Gambhir confirmed that the final decision on which matches he will play will be dependent on conditions and the series’ progression.

“We have selected plenty of bowlers, and our pace attack is in excellent shape to secure victories in any conditions. Having a fast bowler like Jasprit Bumrah is always a tremendous advantage for us,” Gill remarked.

Gambhir stressed the irreplaceability of Bumrah while also emphasizing the strength of India’s pace reserves. “Replacing someone like Jasprit Bumrah is challenging, but we have enough quality players. This presents an opportunity for others to step up in his absence,” he stated.

The team management will remain adaptable regarding Bumrah’s participation based on how the series unfolds.

“We haven’t decided yet which three Tests he will play. We’ll consult with him and make decisions as the series progresses. Winning is the priority, and he understands that,” Gambhir added.

Nair Set for Extended Opportunity

Karun Nair is on track to make a comeback to the national team seven years after his historic triple century, thanks to his strong performances in domestic cricket. The right-hand batsman, who is only the second Indian to achieve a triple century in Tests, has impressed the selectors once again.

Nair recently marked his presence in England with a double century while playing for India A against the England Lions. Gambhir expressed confidence in Nair’s abilities and hinted at granting him extended opportunities this time.

“This is encouraging for domestic cricket and will inspire young players to realize that consistent performance can lead to opportunities,” Gambhir said.

Highlighting Nair’s experience and recent success in county cricket, Gambhir noted that having in-form players on challenging tours is invaluable. “Karun’s experience and form will be beneficial, especially since he has performed well recently,” he added.

Gambhir clarified that Nair wouldn’t be judged solely based on a couple of matches. “We will assess players based on consistent performance. A player who has scored heavily in domestic cricket deserves a fair chance to showcase their talent at this level,” he stated.
