Raichur: A shocking theft case has been reported from Sindhanur town in Raichur district, where a gang posing as sadhus allegedly cheated people and stole money and gold ornaments using hypnotic tricks.

According to police, the gang members wore saffron clothes and behaved like holy men to gain the trust of the public. They reportedly praised people, offered flowers, and then robbed them after making them unconscious or mentally confused.

The incident took place at Sai Medicals, a pharmacy located on a busy road in Sindhanur. A man dressed as a sadhu came to the shop and asked for drinking water because of the hot weather. The shop owner, Vishnudattu, respectfully gave him chilled water from the refrigerator.

After drinking the water, the fake sadhu acted as if he was blessing the shop owner and his family. He then gave two flowers to Vishnudattu and asked him to smell them.

Within a few moments of smelling the flowers, Vishnudattu reportedly became dizzy and lost awareness of his actions. Police said he appeared to be under hypnosis. In that condition, he himself handed over Rs 10,000 in cash and a gold ring to the accused.
