Egyptian: An Egyptian blogger has surrendered to police after allegedly collecting millions of pounds through fake cancer treatment appeals on social media.

According to reports, blogger Donia Fouad from Ismailia raised nearly four million Egyptian pounds by claiming she was suffering from cancer and needed money for medical treatment. Thousands of followers reportedly donated after seeing her emotional online posts.

Authorities later conducted medical examinations and confirmed that Fouad did not have cancer. Police had earlier detained her husband for questioning during the investigation into the fundraising campaign.
