Ed Sheeran put on a remarkable show in Bengaluru this past Sunday as part of his ‘+ – = / x’ India tour, mesmerizing the crowd with his renowned hits, including ‘Perfect’ and ‘Photograph’. A standout moment from the concert was when Sheeran surprised everyone by performing the Telugu song ‘Chuttamalle’ from Jr NTR’s upcoming film ‘Devara’. The evening reached its peak when Shilpa Rao, the original artist of the song, joined him on stage for a stunning duet, where Sheeran skillfully sang the Telugu lyrics, much to the audience’s delight.

After the performance, Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to express his admiration for Shilpa Rao, stating, “I’ve been obsessed with @shilparao’s voice for a while; it was a true privilege to share the stage tonight and learn a new language!”

Despite the magical moments, the day was not without its hurdles for Sheeran. Before the concert, he attempted an impromptu street performance on Church Street, a bustling area in Bengaluru, but it was cut short by the local police. A viral video captured the moment when Sheeran began playing, only for the police to intervene and unplug the speakers, halting the performance.

This incident drew attention from fans and media, leading to expressions of disappointment over the disruption. Bengaluru’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shekar T. Tekkannanavar, later clarified that permission for the street performance was denied due to concerns about heavy foot traffic in the area. “Church Street is very crowded, so we could not allow the event,” he explained.

Sheeran’s India tour has already been filled with remarkable experiences, including a memorable collaboration with music icon A.R. Rahman in Chennai, where they thrilled the crowd with a rendition of the classic ‘Urvashi’. Sheeran also spent time with Rahman and his son, A.R. Ameen, prior to the concert, with Rahman sharing their joyful encounter on Instagram.

After memorable shows in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru, Sheeran is set to continue his tour in Shillong and the Delhi NCR region.
