Donald Trump, Elon Musk Blame ‘Diversity’ for Los Angeles Wildfires, Dismissing Climate Change Concerns

Donald Trump and Elon Musk

As deadly wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles, debates about their causes have taken a political turn. While experts have pointed to climate change as a significant factor in the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires, some high-profile figures, including former President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk, have cast blame elsewhere.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter), sparked controversy by engaging with posts from conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and other right-wing commentators. Musk responded “True” to a post by Jones claiming the fires were “part of a larger globalist plot to wage economic warfare and deindustrialize the United States before triggering total collapse.” Musk later deleted his comment but continued to engage with polarizing narratives.

Musk also liked a post from conservative commentator Matt Walsh that attributed the wildfire crisis to diversity and inclusion initiatives. Walsh claimed, “Los Angeles deliberately set out to exclude white men from becoming firefighters, and now they don’t have enough firefighters to prevent their city from burning to the ground. DEI is a cancer that destroys everything it touches.”

These statements have drawn sharp criticism from scientists and policymakers who emphasize the role of climate change in creating the conditions for such catastrophic events. Experts note that higher temperatures, prolonged droughts, and stronger winds—phenomena linked to global warming—have worsened wildfire seasons in California and other regions.

The Los Angeles wildfires remain under investigation, with officials yet to determine their exact cause. However, climate experts stress the urgency of addressing the broader environmental trends that make such disasters more frequent and severe.

Despite this, some public figures continue to downplay or reject climate change as a factor, instead pushing narratives rooted in divisive political ideologies. Critics argue that such rhetoric undermines the efforts needed to address the real challenges posed by a warming planet.

Islamabad: Reports of the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in an alleged joint strike by Israel and the United States have triggered strong reactions across the world. The incident has led to celebrations in some places and protests in others.

In Iran, reactions were divided. In several cities including Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, and Nurabad, groups of people gathered in the streets. Some women celebrated by dancing, bursting firecrackers, and honking car horns. They raised slogans calling for freedom. Many said they were protesting against restrictions on women’s rights during Khamenei’s leadership.

Iranian communities living abroad also held public gatherings. Large crowds assembled in Los Angeles, Times Square, Toronto, Munich, and London. Many waved Iranian, American, and Israeli flags. In Los Angeles, reports said that around 350,000 people took part in the gathering.

However, there were also strong protests condemning the attack. In Tehran’s Enghelab Square, thousands of supporters gathered to mourn Khamenei’s death. They held his photographs and raised slogans against the United States and Israel.
