Disha Salian Death Case: Aaditya Thackeray Criticizes 5-Year Defamation Sentence

Published

on

Aaditya Thackeray, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), has vehemently refuted accusations linked to the death of Disha Salian, asserting that he has been unjustly targeted for the past five years. With legal proceedings currently in progress, Thackeray emphasized that he would discuss the issue solely within the courtroom.

The controversy reignited following a petition filed by Disha’s father, Satish Salian, in the Bombay High Court, which calls for further investigation into his daughter’s death. His petition seeks to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Thackeray and others, as well as to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“A significant number of people have tried to defame me during these five years,” Thackeray told reporters on Thursday. “As this case is in court, I will address it there.”

Shifting focus to political matters, the young leader accused the Maharashtra government of failing to uphold its commitments, claiming that his party had revealed the ruling administration’s misleading assertions, especially regarding the state budget. He also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), labeling their Hindutva ideology as “fake” and accusing them of leveraging historical figures like Aurangzeb to distract the public from pressing issues.

“We exposed the government during this budget session,” he asserted. “They have made false promises to the people of Maharashtra. The BJP’s Hindutva is insincere, and they keep invoking Aurangzeb to deflect attention from real problems. I appreciate the RSS for helping restore some sense to the BJP.”

**Recap of Disha Salian’s Death Case:**
Disha Salian, a former talent manager for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was discovered dead on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai. This incident occurred just days before Sushant was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, prompting widespread speculation and conspiracy theories.

At the time, the Mumbai Police classified Salian’s death as accidental. However, in 2023, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was created to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death more thoroughly. Sushant’s case, which sparked a national debate, was eventually handed over to the CBI, with his postmortem report confirming asphyxia as the cause of death.

Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane reignited the debate by questioning Aaditya Thackeray’s involvement, stating, “This is not merely a political allegation. Is her father lying too? Yesterday, Kishori Pednekar claimed that Disha’s father was soliciting money. If that statement was made, legal action should be pursued against her.”

Rane also accused former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of intervening in the investigation, stating, “If Uddhav Thackeray insists we are making political allegations, why did he contact Narayan Rane twice, asking him to ‘protect his son’ from this issue?”

Additionally, Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske highlighted that Satish Salian’s petition claimed he was under pressure and that vital evidence had been concealed. “He cited names like Ekta Kapoor, Dino Morea, and Aditya Pancholi, demanding a review of their phone records. This warrants investigation. These are not baseless claims,” Mhaske asserted.

He further criticized Aaditya Thackeray’s social circle, saying, “Everyone is aware of Aaditya Thackeray’s nightlife entourage. If they are innocent, he and Sanjay Raut should come forward and call for an inquiry. Sanjay Raut has criticized Aaditya in the past, but now that he’s part of their party, he remains silent.”
