Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently visited the Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad with his family, including his son, Jay Shah, the newly appointed Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The visit took place on the auspicious occasion of Uttarayan. Jay Shah, who took over as ICC Chairman on December 1, 2024, succeeding Greg Barclay, was seen at the temple with his father, a rare sight due to their busy schedules.

During the visit, a video surfaced showing Jay Shah and Amit Shah participating in a traditional aarti. In the video, as Amit Shah held the flame near Jay Shah’s son, the latter tried to protect his baby from the flame. In response, Amit Shah jokingly said, “Kassu nai thay, tare kai novo navay no chokro che,” which roughly translates to, “Nothing will happen; do you have a new and unique son?”

The video, which has gone viral on social media, has sparked discussions and raised eyebrows, with many speculating about the light-hearted exchange between the father and son. Despite the viral attention, it was clear that the incident was more of a humorous moment than any kind of scolding.

BJP Slams Sonia Gandhi for 'Poor Thing' Remark on President Murmu

A comment by Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi regarding President Droupadi Murmu’s address to Parliament has sparked a political firestorm. Gandhi referred to President Murmu’s speech, saying, “She could hardly speak, poor thing,” which has been met with sharp backlash, particularly from BJP leaders.

BJP’s Criticism of Gandhi’s Comment

The BJP has strongly condemned Gandhi’s words, accusing her of revealing the “elitist, anti-poor, and anti-tribal” nature of the Congress Party. The saffron party also called the comment an “unprecedented insult” to the office of the President.

BJP President JP Nadda tweeted, “I and every BJP Karyakarta strongly condemn the usage of the phrase ‘poor thing’ by Smt. Sonia Gandhi for Honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu Ji. Such words reflect the elitist mindset and disregard for tribal communities. I demand that the Congress Party unconditionally apologise to President Murmu and the tribal communities of India.”

BJP Leaders Respond

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while not directly addressing Sonia Gandhi, praised President Murmu’s speech. “The President’s address to Parliament was comprehensive, relevant, and aspirational,” Sarma said. “It had the necessary elements to achieve the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India). My gratitude to Rashtrapati Ji for clearly outlining the government’s priorities.”

BJP MP Sambit Patra also criticized Gandhi’s remark, stating, “It is unfortunate that Sonia Gandhi made such an inappropriate comment about President Droupadi Murmu. Calling her a ‘poor thing’ is offensive. The President is a distinguished leader who holds a position of immense respect and authority. If anything, Rahul Gandhi is the ‘poor thing’ in the country.”

Other BJP Leaders Join the Condemnation

Rajya Sabha member Rekha Sharma added, “When Congress is out of power, it loses its composure. They don’t understand how to talk about constitutional positions. I noticed Sonia Gandhi smiling when the message of condolence for lives lost in Kumbh was being read, and instructing party MPs to make noise. This behavior in Parliament is disrespectful.”

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed disbelief, saying, “The kind of language used by Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi against the President is shocking. What more can we expect from them?”

Kiren Rijiju’s Strong Condemnation

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also condemned Gandhi’s comment, saying, “Our President, a tribal woman, is not weak. Droupadi Murmu has worked tirelessly for the country and society, and the Congress leaders have no idea about the kind of work she has done. They should apologize to her.”

President Murmu’s Address

President Droupadi Murmu’s address, which opened the Budget Session on Friday, focused on the government’s agenda for all-around development. Emphasizing that India’s sole aim is to become a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), President Murmu stated that the government is working with a “saturation approach” to ensure that no one is left behind in this journey of national progress.

PM Modi Touches BJP Candidate's Feet Three Times on Stage, Sparks Discussion

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi sparked widespread discussion during an election rally when he unexpectedly touched the feet of BJP candidate Ravindra Singh Negi three times on stage. The event, which took place as part of Modi’s campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, has since gone viral on social media.

As Modi stepped onto the stage, Ravindra Singh Negi, the BJP candidate from Patparganj, showed his respect by touching the Prime Minister’s feet. In a surprising move, Modi reciprocated the gesture, bowing down and touching Negi’s feet three times. The moment left political leaders and spectators astonished, with even Negi appearing visibly taken aback by the unexpected gesture.

Who is Ravindra Singh Negi?

Negi is a seasoned politician who previously contested against Aam Aadmi Party’s senior leader Manish Sisodia in the last Delhi Assembly elections, giving him a tough fight in the Patparganj constituency. Despite the strong competition, Sisodia narrowly secured victory. This election season, however, Sisodia has switched to the Jungpura constituency, while AAP has fielded educationist Avadh Ojha in Patparganj. Negi is now seen as a formidable contender against Ojha.

Modi’s Campaign Message

During his speech, PM Modi took aim at the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, declaring, “The people of Delhi trust the BJP’s commitment and Modi’s guarantee. I assure you that no effort will be spared in the development of this region.”

Ravindra Singh Negi’s Political Background

Hailing from Uttarakhand, Ravindra Singh Negi currently serves as a member of the Delhi Municipal Corporation. He is the councilor from Vinod Nagar Ward-198, which falls under the Patparganj Assembly constituency. Negi has built a strong reputation in the area, gaining national recognition after his close contest with Sisodia in the previous elections. He also maintains deep ties with the RSS and has held significant roles within the organization as an expansion officer.

PM Modi’s unexpected gesture has further amplified the political discourse surrounding the Delhi elections, drawing both curiosity and speculation about the deeper implications of the act.
