Dia Mirza Advocates for Wildlife Conservation on World Biodiversity Day
On Instagram, she uploaded several short videos showcasing the beauty of biodiversity, featuring majestic lions, tigers, elephants, deer, monkeys, butterflies, and a variety of colorful birds.
“Celebrating the beauty and diversity of life on our planet… On this World Biodiversity Day, let’s recognize that every plant, animal, and ecosystem is a crucial thread in the fabric of life. We must unite in protecting and nurturing the rich biodiversity that sustains us all,” she shared on the photo-sharing platform.
World Biodiversity Day, celebrated on May 22, is an internationally recognized day aimed at promoting awareness around biodiversity issues.
Earlier this week, Dia also focused on the essential role bees play in sustaining life on Earth. Highlighting that 75% of crops rely on pollination, the “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein” actress remarked, “A world without bees is a silent one.” She emphasized that one in four wild bee species face the threat of extinction. This World Bee Day, she spotlighted the Red Dwarf Bee from Northwest India—small in size but significant in impact, this vital pollinator is crucial for healthy ecosystems and is unfortunately declining rapidly.
Dia pointed out that while over 75% of crops depend on pollination, factors like habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change are jeopardizing these essential workers. However, she believes that hope remains. “Each of us can help. Let’s #BringTheBuzzBack—one plant, one patch, one choice at a time.”
“Plant native flowers in your garden or on your balcony. Avoid pesticides. Support local beekeepers and organic farmers. Even a small area of bee-friendly plants can make a big difference. Let’s cultivate spaces where bees can prosper and ensure their song never fades away. Join the movement at beewild.org and follow @beewild.campaign for action. Bees are not just pollinators; they are the poets of our planet. Let’s protect, listen, and take action #ForNature #ForPeopleForPlanet #WorldBeeDay #BeeTheChange #BeatPollution #SDGs #GlobalGoals,” she concluded.
