Dhanush Credits Sekhar Kammula for Inspiring His Role in ‘Kuberaa’

During the launch event for the single ‘Pippi Pippi Dum Dum Dum’ from his upcoming film ‘Kuberaa’ in Mumbai, actor Dhanush expressed high regard for director Sekhar Kammula, calling him “a great person” and revealing that his decision to take on the film was heavily influenced by Kammula’s vision.

Dhanush candidly shared his experience of working on ‘Kuberaa’. “I heard I had to endure standing in the sun and do extensive research… but that was all exaggerated. I mainly just needed to follow my director. Sekhar sir was exceptional; he taught me the finer details and made everything easier. My character in this film is quite different from my previous roles, and I truly enjoyed the challenge,” he admitted.

Praising Kammula further, Dhanush reiterated his admiration, saying, “Sekhar sir is an incredible human being. You won’t find another person like him. He’s pure-hearted and genuinely kind. Throughout my career, I’ve met many people, but meeting someone like Sekhar makes it all worthwhile. It was his vision that compelled me to take on this project. After a mere 20 minutes of narration, I was captivated by his energy, positivity, and approach. His honesty, both in filmmaking and as an individual, is something I truly respect.”

The actor emphasized that ‘Kuberaa’ holds a significant place in his heart. “Shooting for this film was an amazing experience, even if it meant filming in dumpyards and garbage trucks. Every experience contributes to your growth,” he reflected.

In addition to Dhanush and Nagarjuna, the film features notable performances by Jim Sarbh and Rashmika Mandanna. This collaboration marks the first between Dhanush and acclaimed director Sekhar Kammula, generating considerable anticipation among audiences.

On the technical side, the film boasts music by Devi Sri Prasad, who has recently enjoyed remarkable success. Cinematography is handled by Niketh Bommi, with production design by Ramakrishna Sabbani and Monika Nigotre. The screenplay is co-written by Chaithanya Pingali, and the costumes are designed by Kavya Sriram and Poorvaa Jain. ‘Kuberaa’ is being produced by Suniel Naran and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the Sree Venkateswara Cinemas banner.
