Deportation from the U.S.: A Wake-Up Call; Punjab CM Advises Against Illegal Immigration

Published

on

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann urged the youth of the state on Sunday to take heed from the recent deportation of illegal immigrants from the USA. He encouraged them to abandon the quest for overseas opportunities through unscrupulous means and to instead strive for progress within their own state, helping it become a leader in the nation.
Speaking at a sports tournament, the Chief Minister emphasized the privilege of being born in Punjab, which is home to some of the most fertile land in the world.
He lamented that the continuous failures of past governments have driven many young people to seek opportunities abroad.
Mann pointed out that the recent mass deportations from the US serve as a wake-up call, urging the youth to pursue legal avenues instead and contribute to the socio-economic growth of Punjab.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government has successfully provided over 50,000 merit-based government jobs to the youth in Punjab, a significant achievement in just three years.
This unprecedented hiring trend is expected to continue, with many more job opportunities on the horizon for the state’s young population.
He noted that reverse migration is occurring, as youth are returning from abroad to secure governmental positions in Punjab.
Mann explained that the transparent recruitment process has restored the youth’s faith in state employment, leading them to focus on preparing for government jobs rather than seeking opportunities overseas.
He stated that educational institutions across the state are seeing a significant increase in student admissions, contrary to past patterns of youth leaving for foreign lands.
To enhance police efficiency and create jobs, the state government has announced the recruitment of 1,800 Constables and 300 Sub Inspectors annually in the Punjab Police. This initiative aims to address the existing shortage of police personnel.
Mann indicated that approximately 250,000 candidates are expected to apply for these 2,100 posts annually, motivating them to focus on both academics and physical fitness to pass the entrance exams.
Additionally, he revealed plans to recruit 10,000 new police officers, with notifications already issued for the process.
The Chief Minister expressed that traditional political parties are envious of him because he comes from a common background, and they struggle to accept that a regular person is effectively managing the state.
He accused these leaders of having deceived the populace for years, but assured that the public is no longer swayed by their misleading messages.
Mann pointed out that the residents of Punjab have rejected these political parties that previously took turns exploiting them every five years.
His government has been entrusted by the people, and he promised to work diligently to meet their expectations. Mann criticized opposition leaders for attacking him out of jealousy over the favorable policies his government is implementing.
The Chief Minister mentioned that promoting sports culture is a vital strategy in combating drug abuse in the state, as it channels the youth’s energy towards athletic pursuits.
He argued that young athletes are too focused on their sports to even consider drug use, dedicating themselves to excelling in their disciplines.
Mann also highlighted the annual ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’ organized by the state government, providing a platform for showcasing athletic talent.
He asserted that these games help the state identify athletes’ strengths and weaknesses, which is crucial for preparing them for national and international competitions.
The state government is committed to promoting sports, recognizing its potential to significantly contribute to the state’s progress and the well-being of its people.
The Chief Minister congratulated the organizing committee for the tournament’s success, noting that such events ceased under previous administrations.
He observed that the atmosphere has transformed since the AAP government took office, with people now enjoying a revival of such events. This reflects a vibrant Punjab, with the government working tirelessly to create joyful experiences for its citizens.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced grants exceeding Rs 1 crore for village development, aimed at constructing an Aam Aadmi Clinic, installing solar lights, building a community hall, establishing a water treatment plant, and other initiatives. Prominent attendees included Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh and others.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin conducted a minor cabinet reshuffle on Monday following the resignations of Excise Minister V Senthil Balaji and Forest Minister K Ponmudy. Former Dairy Development Minister Mano Thangaraj has made a return to the cabinet.

Thangaraj was sworn in at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan, where Governor R N Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy. The event was attended by Chief Minister Stalin, his son and Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with other ministers and officials. Udhayanidhi continues to hold the third position in the order of protocol, following Chief Minister Stalin and veteran minister K Duraimurugan, who oversees irrigation.

Representing the Padmanabapuram constituency in Kanyakumari district, Thangaraj will be responsible for Dairy Development, a role currently held by Raja Kannappan. He is known to have close ties with Kanimozhi, the party’s prominent female leader and MP. With Thangaraj’s induction, the coastal district once again has representation in the council of ministers.

On Sunday, the portfolios of Senthil Balaji and Ponmudy were reallocated. Raja Kannappan has taken over the Forest Department. Transport Minister SS Sivasankar has also assumed additional responsibilities for Electricity, while Housing Minister S Muthusamy now oversees Prohibition and Excise.

Muthusamy, originally from Erode in Western Tamil Nadu, recently transitioned from the AIADMK to the DMK. He previously managed the Prohibition and Excise portfolio during the time when Senthil Balaji was appointed Minister without Portfolio following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

Pak Army Chief Makes Headlines Amid Disappearance Rumors

Published

Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir became a trending topic on social media, with many users inquiring about his whereabouts. Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, and following Munir’s contentious remarks, rumors emerged on X claiming that the Pakistani General either fled the country or was hiding in an underground bunker in Rawalpindi.

Hashtags #MunirOut and #MunirMIA trended on X on Monday. Just days prior to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Munir referred to Kashmir as Pakistan’s “Jugular Vein” and asserted that Hindus and Muslims are “two separate nations.”

During his address at a Convention for Overseas Pakistanis in Islamabad, Munir stated, “Our stance is unequivocal: it is our jugular vein, it will remain our jugular vein, and we will not abandon our Kashmiri brothers in their courageous struggle.”

Following the attack, he continued to emphasize the two-nation theory while addressing the passing out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, Abbottabad. He remarked that the theory rests on the fundamental belief that Muslims and Hindus constitute two distinct nations. “Muslims differ from Hindus in all aspects—religion, customs, traditions, beliefs, and aspirations,” he stated.

Munir further declared that Pakistan’s existence resulted from “unparalleled struggle and sacrifices,” and underscored that its defense is a duty of the armed forces, saying, “Our forefathers sacrificed greatly for Pakistan’s creation. We know how to protect it.”

To dispel the rumors regarding the Army Chief’s disappearance, the Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office released a photo featuring Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and General Munir at an event, with a caption noting the date and location. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and officers of PMA Kakul in a group photo with graduating officers of the 151st Long Course at PMA Kakul, Abbottabad. April 2025. (sic),” read the caption.

Unverified claims circulating on social media suggested not only that Munir was missing but also that there had been no updates regarding his family. Rumors indicated that his family had reportedly fled the country following the Pahalgam attack.
