Cruel Mother Drowns Six-Year-Old Daughter in Water Tub
Hassan: In a shocking incident, a mother allegedly drowned her six-year-old daughter in a water tub in Jinnehalli village of Channarayapatna taluk, Hassan district.
The deceased child has been identified as 6-year-old Saanvi. Shweta (36), a native of Hassan, and Raghu, originally from Shivamogga, had been married for seven years. Raghu, who works for a private company in Bengaluru, had taken good care of his wife after bringing her to live with him in the city.
However, instead of bringing joy to the family, the birth of their beloved daughter Saanvi reportedly created tension between the couple. Frequent quarrels arose, and despite several attempts at reconciliation, their marriage fell apart. Eventually, Shweta separated from her husband and is said to have filed for divorce.
Yesterday, Shweta came to her parental home from Bengaluru. When no one else was present at home, she allegedly drowned the child in a tub of water. “By the time I arrived home, I found the child lifeless,” said the grieving father.
Raghu tearfully claimed that his wife killed their daughter because the child had become an obstacle to her illicit affair.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the Karnataka flag and the singing of the state anthem. Government offices, schools, and institutions organized cultural programs showcasing traditional music, folk dances, and art performances. Streets and public buildings across cities and towns were decorated with red and yellow flags, symbolizing the colors of Karnataka.
Many schools and colleges held special assemblies to teach students about the significance of the day. People from all walks of life participated in rallies and events to express their love for the Kannada language.
The festival was not limited to Karnataka alone. Kannadiga communities living in other parts of India and abroad also celebrated the day with equal excitement, organizing cultural gatherings and community events.
