Reiterating his concerns regarding the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Ramesh emphasized that Modi should focus on important matters instead of resorting to theatrical expressions.
During a rally in Bikaner earlier that day, Modi condemned the April 22 terrorist attack and commended the Indian armed forces for their quick response, recalling how terrorists targeted innocent civilians based on religion. He stated, “Sindoor, not blood, flows through Modi’s veins” and claimed that terror camps were destroyed within 22 minutes, showcasing the might of Indian forces.
Ramesh, however, challenged this rhetoric, asking: “Why are the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack still at large? Reports indicate they were linked to three previous attacks in Poonch, Gagangir, and Gulmarg. Why hasn’t there been an all-party meeting to discuss this?” He also questioned the absence of a special parliamentary session to revisit the unanimously passed resolution of February 22, 1994, especially given the evident China-Pakistan alliance during Operation Sindoor.
Earlier, the Congress party reiterated its demand for clarification from the government regarding President Trump’s repeated claims of facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. “For the eighth time in eleven days, President Trump has taken full credit for the ceasefire and praised both PMs equally,” Ramesh noted in his post on platform X.
Trump claimed that his personal diplomacy and ongoing trade negotiations contributed to de-escalating tensions. He remarked, “We resolved the issue with Pakistan and India through trade” during a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Ramesh pointed out the silence from Modi regarding Trump’s claims and questioned: “Why this deafening silence from our Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister on what Trump and Secretary of State Rubio have stated?”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also addressed Modi, posing questions such as, “Why did you take Pakistan’s statements on terrorism at face value? Why did you prioritize Trump’s interests over India’s?” and “Why do you only show emotion in front of cameras?”
