Concurrent Bloodshed and Water Flow Will Not Be Permitted: Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

Published

on

Union Minister for Tourism, Art and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, stated on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered a decisive message to Pakistan. He emphasized that “Bloodshed and water cannot flow together” in light of recent events. During a press briefing at the home of CA Neeraj Udhwani—one of the 26 victims tragically killed by terrorists in Pahalgam—Shekhawat highlighted the Union Cabinet’s decision to suspend the Indus River Water Sharing Treaty of 1960, which he described as a testament to PM Modi’s firm stance against Pakistan.

The Minister, who previously held the Jal Shakti portfolio, noted that the Indus River Water Treaty was regarded with such reverence that it remained intact during several wars with Pakistan, including the conflicts of 1965, 1971, and Kargil. According to Shekhawat, the Prime Minister’s commitment to halt water flow alongside bloodshed underscores the gravity of the current situation and serves as a clear message to Pakistan, which he believes will likely lead to significant economic consequences for the neighboring country.

Furthermore, both the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah have unequivocally demanded harsh punishments for those responsible for Tuesday’s tragic attack. “The entire nation is not only shocked but also deeply agitated and distressed. There is a strong consensus for swift justice for the victims of this terror strike,” he remarked.

In response to a question, Union Minister Shekhawat criticized Robert Vadra, the husband of AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, for his comments regarding the terror attack, calling them unfortunate and indicative of the mentality within the Congress party and the Gandhi family.

Shekhawat visited Neeraj Udhwani’s residence to pay his respects, where the body was brought from Kashmir on Wednesday night. Governor Haribhau Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also came to honor Udhwani’s memory this morning.
