“CM Yogi: Country Witnesses Attempts to Hinder Holi, Diwali, and Maha Kumbh Celebrations”
Speaking at a Holi Milan event in Gorakhpur, CM Yogi reflected on India’s long history of slavery and the harm caused to its faith by invaders. He noted, “Our country has endured centuries of oppression and has seen its beliefs attacked. Yet, despite efforts to disrupt celebrations like Holi and Diwali and events such as the Maha Kumbh, these traditions continue unabated,” without naming any specific groups.
The Chief Minister added that the Holi festival serves as a unifying force, countering claims that Sanatan Dharma is divided by caste, religion, or language. “After the Maha Kumbh, Holi has also provided a response to such divisive narratives. Today, every adherent of Sanatan Dharma is embracing each other, sharing colors and gulal—that is our strength,” he shared on X.
His comments followed a controversy sparked by West Bengal Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, who alleged that the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government had banned Holi celebrations at Santiniketan’s Sonajhuri Haat.
CM Yogi further underscored the significance of national unity, asserting that India’s development hinges on its citizens standing together. He stated, “No force in the world can stop India from becoming a developed nation if we are united. Sanatan Dharma’s core message is that where there is Dharma, there will be victory. Prime Minister Modi has laid out a vision of a developed India, and our collective dedication to the nation is crucial.”
Addressing the crowd during Holi celebrations in Gorakhpur, he conveyed, “The essence of Holi is unity. Our strength in Sanatan Dharma is rooted in our faith, and the spirit of that faith is embodied in our festivals.” CM Yogi also participated in puja and aarti at the Holika Dahan site within the Gorakhnath temple grounds to commence the Holi festivities.
