“CM Siddaramaiah Slams BJP and RSS for Idolizing Gandhi’s Assassin”
Bengaluru, January 30, 2025: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of praising and worshipping Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. The Chief Minister expressed his concerns at an event held in Bengaluru to commemorate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
During his speech, CM Siddaramaiah remarked, “BJP and RSS are worshipping the person who killed Mahatma Gandhi. This is highly disturbing and goes against the values of our nation.” He further emphasized that true respect for Gandhiji could only be shown by adhering to the principles he fought for – peace, non-violence, and unity.
Referring to the constitutional values upheld by Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Minister stated, “Gandhi respected all religions, all languages, and believed in equality and tolerance. These are the values we must live by to truly honor his legacy. Our nation thrives on unity in diversity.”
Siddaramaiah also spoke out against BJP’s efforts to turn India into a “Hindu Rashtra” and their attempts to push a single language and code. “The fight for democracy and constitutional values is far from over. Only Congress workers can safeguard the Constitution and the democracy we cherish,” he said, highlighting the ongoing challenges the country faces under the current political leadership.
The Chief Minister’s comments have sparked reactions from various political parties, with many voicing concerns over the glorification of figures associated with violence and intolerance. As the debate over India’s future political direction continues, Siddaramaiah’s remarks add fuel to the already intense discussions on preserving the democratic and secular fabric of the nation

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the development of seven high-speed rail corridors while presenting the Union Budget 2026–27. The project aims to strengthen connectivity between major cities and promote faster, environmentally sustainable passenger transport.

The proposed corridors include Mumbai–Pune, Pune–Hyderabad, Hyderabad–Bengaluru, Hyderabad–Chennai, Chennai–Bengaluru, Delhi–Varanasi, and Varanasi–Siliguri. These routes are expected to connect financial centres, technology hubs, manufacturing regions, and emerging urban areas across the country.
