Mangaluru: The Karnataka government has decided to hold a State Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru on September 18.

The Chief Secretary to the Government has issued an official communication regarding the meeting.

Officials have been asked to submit proposals related to the overall development of the coastal districts.

The government has stated that development proposals concerning the coastal region will be given special priority during the Cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, Puttur MLA Ashok Rai had recently urged the Chief Minister to declare Tulu as the second official language of Karnataka.

It remains to be seen whether the demand for official recognition of the Tulu language will receive a positive response during the Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru.

The idea of holding a Cabinet meeting outside Bengaluru and Belagavi was discussed during Siddaramaiah’s earlier tenure as Chief Minister.

At that time, there were discussions about conducting a Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru.

With the proposed meeting now scheduled in the coastal city, expectations have increased regarding major development decisions for the region.

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accused Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of using students for political gain and creating disruption in Parliament.

Pradhan made the remarks after Congress leaders staged a protest near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence over the alleged NEET question paper leak.

In a post on X, the minister criticised the protest and said the Congress party was trying to use students’ concerns for political purposes during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

He said the government is fully prepared to hold a detailed discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament. However, he alleged that Congress has chosen political protests instead of participating in a democratic debate.

Pradhan said the government believes students deserve clear answers, educational reforms, and accountability rather than political slogans. He added that the Centre remains committed to improving the education system.

He also claimed that the protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence caused inconvenience to the public and violated security rules.

The Congress protest was led by Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and several other opposition leaders. They demanded action over the alleged NEET irregularities and called for the resignation of the Union Education Minister.

As the protesters marched towards the Prime Minister’s residence and staged a sit-in, Delhi Police detained the leaders.
