Chitrangda Singh weighs in on Deepika Padukone’s call for an 8-hour workday.
Weighing in on the matter, actress Chitrangda Singh emphasized that the situation largely depends on an actor’s relationship with the director and producer.
In a conversation with IANS, Chitrangda remarked, “This concerns the personal dynamics between an actor and the director, as well as the producer’s needs. If they can accommodate it, I’m sure they will. However, there are often constraints—whether related to time, budget, or scheduling—that may make it unfeasible. We must acknowledge that aspect, as time is money in this industry; everyone invests in a project.”
“Ultimately, it’s a personal choice. Deepika is a prominent actress, and she has every right to make her own decisions,” she added.
For context, Deepika was recently replaced by Triptii Dimri in the highly anticipated film “Spirit” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, reportedly due to her demands as a new mother.
Reports suggest that Deepika requested eight-hour working shifts, sought an increase in her salary, and asked for a share of the film’s profits. Additionally, she allegedly declined to perform the Telugu lines, preferring them to be dubbed instead.
Deepika and her husband, Ranveer Singh, welcomed their baby girl on September 8, 2024.
Meanwhile, Chitrangda made an appearance in Tarun Mansukhani’s “Housefull 5,” alongside stars like Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and Fardeen Khan. The fifth installment of the ‘Housefull’ franchise hit theaters on June 6.
