On Thursday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with a delegation of state leaders, took a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The group included the Governor, Legislative Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs, and their families, all of whom aimed to seek divine blessings for the “prosperity and well-being of Chhattisgarh.”

CM Sai described the Maha Kumbh as a “divine festival of Sanatan Dharma,” highlighting its significance as a vibrant symbol of India’s cultural resilience and spiritual vitality. He remarked, “This Maha Kumbh, taking place after 144 years, is not just a ritual but a unique opportunity to engage with India’s timeless democratic traditions and reinforce our cultural foundations.” The delegation’s presence demonstrated the unity of Chhattisgarh’s political leaders, with representatives from both the ruling and opposition parties participating in this pilgrimage.

The delegation flew from Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport and arrived in Prayagraj on Thursday morning. They proceeded by five electric buses to the Sangam banks and later took a motorboat to the Triveni Sangam—the sacred meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. CM Sai conducted rituals and prayers, asking for blessings for the state’s advancement and national unity.

CM Sai expressed his sincere gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the UP Legislative Assembly Speaker for their warm invitation and careful arrangements. He highlighted Chhattisgarh’s pavilion at the Kumbh, which provided free accommodation and meals for pilgrims from the state, promoting cultural solidarity. His wife, Kaushalya Sai, shared similar thoughts, saying, “We sought Maa Ganga’s blessings to revitalize our service to Chhattisgarh.”

The Maha Kumbh 2025, which commenced on January 13 and will conclude on Mahashivratri (February 26), has already attracted over 482.9 million devotees globally, with 1.47 million attending on Thursday alone. The scale of the event underscores its status as the world’s largest spiritual gathering, merging age-old traditions with modern logistical efforts. UP officials have implemented improved crowd management strategies based on previous experiences, ensuring a smooth experience for all pilgrims.
