Chahal-Dhanashree Divorce: ₹4.75 Crore Alimony, Half Yet to be Paid!

Published

on

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma, who have been apart for over two years, are expected to receive a final ruling on their divorce today, as reported by Bar and Bench. The Bombay High Court has instructed the family court to issue a decision by March 20, taking into account Chahal’s commitments for the IPL, which begin on March 21.

The couple filed for divorce in February 2024, submitting a joint petition and requesting the waiver of the mandatory six-month cooling-off period. However, the family court denied this request, citing that Chahal had not yet paid the entire alimony amount.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s divorce proceedings have been fast-tracked by the Bombay High Court due to Chahal’s IPL schedule. He agreed to pay ₹4.75 crore but had only transferred half of that amount during the hearing. The court allowed the waiver of the cooling-off period, facilitating the family court’s continued proceedings.

According to their settlement, Chahal was required to pay Dhanashree ₹4.75 crore but had only transferred ₹2.37 crore at the time of filing. Nevertheless, the High Court recognized that Chahal agreed to fulfill the remaining payment after the official divorce decree and instructed the lower court to proceed with the case.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree have been under intense public scrutiny since their marriage in December 2020. Rumors of their separation emerged in early 2024, prompting Dhanashree to address the speculation on social media, referring to it as “baseless.” She also spoke out against the online harassment she experienced, stating, “The past few days have been incredibly tough for my family and me. What’s truly upsetting is the baseless writing, devoid of fact-checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate.”
