Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of over 26 civilians, the Centre has scheduled an all-party meeting for 6 PM on Thursday. This meeting will take place at the Parliament Annexe, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting on Wednesday, is anticipated to miss the all-party gathering.

The government has invited all major political parties to this meeting to provide updates regarding the Pahalgam attack, noted as the deadliest on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

However, the Opposition Congress is hopeful that Prime Minister Modi will preside over the meeting and engage all parties in a collaborative discussion.
“Given the gravity of the situation and the sentiment of the nation, the Indian National Congress anticipates the PM will lead the All-Party meeting scheduled for 6 PM today, ensuring that all political factions are consulted to foster a collective response,” stated Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge of communications.
Ahead of this all-party meeting, a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting was convened to examine “all aspects of the serious attack” that occurred in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent party members present included Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and party MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, among others.
A targeted terrorist attack at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district resulted in at least 26 fatalities, primarily among tourists from various regions of the country. The assailants opened fire indiscriminately, leading to the deaths and injuring more than a dozen others.
Security agencies have disseminated sketches of three attackers based on eyewitness accounts from survivors.
The suspects have been identified as Asif Fauji alias Moosa, Suleman Shah alias Yunus, and Abu Talha alias Asif, who are also linked to other terror-related activities in Poonch.
Authorities suspect that two of the terrorists may be foreign nationals, potentially hailing from neighboring Pakistan.
