Capt. Bakshi Laid to Rest with Full Military Honors
At 11 AM, his coffin, draped in the national flag, was transported from his home in an army vehicle to the Khirgaon Mokshadham cremation ground. People lined the route, showering flowers as the procession moved by. In a moment of profound sadness, his mother stood resolute, raising the war cry “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal” as she accepted the national flag from military officials. His final rites were conducted with full military honors, attended by high-ranking army personnel, local authorities, and dignitaries, including Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay and SP Arvind Kumar Singh. A guard of honor and a gun salute marked the nation’s tribute to his sacrifice.
The entire city observed a period of mourning, with the Sikh community closing their businesses to pay tribute. Amid the sorrow, there was a palpable sense of pride in his bravery and dedication. A senior army officer described him as an exceptional officer whose valor will serve as an inspiration for future generations.
Captain Karamjit had always aspired to serve in the Indian Army. His father, Ajendra Singh, who operates Quality Tent House in Hazaribagh, reminisced about his son’s unwavering love for the military. Commissioned in 2023, Captain Karamjit quickly became an integral part of critical military operations, earning the admiration of his peers. He was preparing for a new chapter in his life, with his wedding set for April 5 to an army doctor who had been eagerly anticipating their union. He had visited home in January for a family wedding and to finalize his own wedding arrangements but returned to duty on January 24, ultimately making the supreme sacrifice on February 11.
On Wednesday evening, his remains arrived at Ranchi Airport, where Governor Santosh Gangwar, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, and senior army officials paid their respects. When his mother saw her son wrapped in the national flag, she fought back tears, standing strong while chanting “Jo Bole So Nihal.”
As the funeral pyre was ignited, the air was filled with cries of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Shaheed Karamjit Amar Rahe,” reflecting the community’s deep respect for their fallen hero. Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi’s sacrifice will remain forever etched in the nation’s collective memory, a powerful reminder of the courage our soldiers exhibit to safeguard the country. His bravery, sense of duty, and unwavering patriotism will continue to inspire generations, creating a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.
