Bus Agent Dies by Suicide After Jumping Into Well in Udupi

Udupi: A bus agent died by suicide after jumping into a well near his house on Wednesday. The incident took place near the road connecting Bannanje Garadi.

The deceased has been identified as K. Rajesh Shenai, a resident of the area near Bannanje Garadi.

According to reports, Shenai allegedly jumped into the well located close to his residence. Members of social worker Eshwar Malpe’s team carried out an operation and retrieved the body from the well. Social worker Nithyananda Olakadu assisted in shifting the body to the district hospital’s post-mortem centre.

Sub-Inspector Narayana and Head Constable Nethavathi from the City Police Station completed the legal formalities. Further investigation is underway.

LPG Gas Tanker Overturns Causes Panic after Gas Leak

Udupi: An LPG gas tanker overturned on the national highway at Katapady in Udupi district, creating panic among local residents after gas started leaking from the tanker.

The tanker was transporting LPG gas when it lost control and overturned on the highway. Following the accident, gas began to leak from the tanker, raising safety concerns in the area.

Police and fire and emergency service personnel rushed to the spot immediately. They took necessary safety measures and secured the area to prevent any untoward incident.

Traffic on the highway was diverted through alternative routes to avoid danger and reduce congestion near the accident site.

Fortunately, the driver of the tanker escaped without serious injuries.

According to initial information, the accident occurred at a stretch of the highway where road work is currently in progress.

A pet dog from a house in Mudrangadi accompanies a school child every morning to the bus stop. The child is a student of St. Francis English Medium School.

Every day, the dog walks with the child until the school bus arrives. When the bus stops, the child boards the bus while the dog waits nearby. The dog then climbs onto the bus steps and looks inside. It checks whether the child has safely taken a seat.

Mother Killed After Scooter Crashes Into Compound Wall

Udupi: A woman died and her son was seriously injured after a scooter crashed into a roadside compound wall near Nittur in Udupi district.

The deceased has been identified as Helen Sons (50), a native of Katapady. She was travelling on the scooter as a pillion rider. The scooter was being ridden by her son Sherwin (20).

According to reports, the accident occurred when the scooter lost control and hit a compound wall on the side of the road near Nittur. The impact of the crash left both mother and son seriously injured.

Helen Sons suffered severe injuries. She died on the way to the hospital while being taken for treatment.

Her son Sherwin sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Helen Sons was the Women’s District Secretary of INTUC.
