Bollywood Socialite Orry and 7 Others Charged for Alcohol Consumption in Sacred Vaishnodevi Town

Bollywood socialite Orry (Orhan Awatramani) and his group of seven friends, which includes three women, have been charged by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for allegedly ‘consuming alcohol’ at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for the Vaishnodevi pilgrimage. The incident has sparked significant backlash, with calls for stringent action against Orry and his companions.

A strict magisterial order prohibits the consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food in this sacred area.

According to police reports, Orry is among several individuals named in a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Katra police on March 15. They are accused of consuming alcohol at a local hotel despite being informed that such actions are strictly forbidden.

The police statement read, “Taking cognizance of a complaint regarding certain guests who were found drinking alcohol within the hotel premises, Katra police has filed an FIR on March 15 against Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Ms. Rashi Dutta, Ms. Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Ms. Anastasila Arzamaskina. They consumed alcohol in the Cottage Suite, which is against the regulations in this revered location.”

“Recognizing the seriousness of the issue, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, has issued strict directives to apprehend the offenders, aiming to set a precedent against drug and alcohol use at religious sites that offend public sentiment,” the statement continued.

The police also announced that a special team has been formed, supervised by the SP Katra, Dy SP Katra, and SHO Katra, to track down those who disrespected local laws and the sentiments of the devotees.

SSP Reasi emphasized that individuals who disregard local laws and disrupt peace through drugs or alcohol have no place in the community and will face severe consequences, as stated in the police press release.

Recently, Orry shared a video on Instagram showcasing him and his friends partying, where bottles of alcohol were visible on the table, signaling a carefree attitude amid the ongoing scrutiny.
