‘Bolli Parba’ Silver Jubilee Celebrations of ‘Namma Kudla’ Channel Held in Mangaluru

Mangaluru : The popular Tulu-language channel ‘Namma Kudla’ celebrated its silver jubilee with grandeur through a full-day cultural event titled ‘Bolli Parba’, held at Mangaluru Town Hall yesterday. The celebrations marked 25 years of dedicated service to Tulu language, culture, and heritage.

 

The event was inaugurated in the morning with a formal ceremony. Leelaksha B. Karkera, Director of Namma Kudla, welcomed the gathering and presented the channel’s journey and achievements. Co-directors Harish B. Karkera, Suresh B. Karkera, Mohan B. Karkera, and Santosh B. Karkera were also present and honored the dignitaries on the occasion.

The chief guest, Shri Sharavu Raghavendra Shastri, hereditary priest of Sharavu Sri Maha Ganapathi Temple, inaugurated the event and recalled the origins of the channel. He noted those 25 years ago, the Karkera family had sought blessings at Sharavu Temple to serve Tulu culture through media. With divine grace and commitment, the organization has now reached this milestone. He wished for the channel’s continued growth toward a golden and centenary jubilee in the future. “Namma Kudla has become a global ambassador of Tulu language and culture. May it be blessed with more strength, prosperity, and success in spreading the essence of Tuluva heritage across the world,” he said.

Sri Mohanadas Paramahamsa Swamiji of Sri Dhama, Manila, in his blessings, praised the Karkera brothers for setting an example of how an organization should operate—with love, unity, and dedication toward all sections of society. “They treat their working families as part of their own. May Namma Kudla thrive as long as the sun and moon exist,” he added.

 

Priests from various temples including Veda Moorthi Vasudeva Asranna, Lakshmi Narayana Asranna, and Venkataramana Asranna from Kateel Temple, Kudupu Narasimha Tantri, Derabail Vittal Das Tantri, Nagapatri Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Polali Chief Priest Adigal Narayana Bhat, and Giridhar Bhat from the Balambhat family, offered their blessings.

Other distinguished guests included Harikrishna Punarooru (Dharmadarshi), Arun Kumar Aithal (Mangaladevi Temple), Lakshman Kodikal (Urwa Mariyamma Temple), Dr. K.C. Naik (Shakti Vidya Samsthe), Dejappa Bachkere (Bachkere Temple), H.S. Jayaraj (Chairman, Gokarnanatheshwara Temple), Patla Satish Shetty (Founder-President, Patla Foundation), Dr. Srinath (President, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, DK), A.C. Bhandari (former President, All India Tulu Federation), and Mohan Poojary (Chief of Hejamady Kujumammunatti Jarandaya Temple).

Kajja Premiere Show Inaugurated in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The premiere show of the upcoming Tulu film Kajja – Karma Returns was inaugurated on Sunday at Bharat Mall Theatre in Mangaluru. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

Actor Siddharth Shetty, who became popular among movie lovers through the film Tudar, is set to appear before audiences once again with this new movie. The film is produced under the Sumukha Productions banner by Vishanth Menezes.

Kajja – Karma Returns is directed by Jishnu S. Menon and Siddharth Shetty. The film is scheduled for a statewide release on June 11.

Speaking at the event, veteran Tulu actor Sadashiv wished success to the entire team. He said he hoped that everyone would get an opportunity to watch the film.

Producer Vishanth Menezes thanked the audience for their support. He said that positive feedback from viewers would be the biggest reward for the team.

The film features Vasishta N. Simha in a major role. Other cast members include Aravind Bolar, Umesh Mijar, Uday Poojary Ballalbagh and Dinesh Shetty.

The film team recently released the video song Tulunada Mann. In the song, Siddharth Shetty has impressed viewers with his energetic dance performance.

With its promotional campaign gaining momentum, Kajja – Karma Returns is expected to attract audiences across Karnataka when it hits theatres on June 11.

Orientation Programme Held for Students and Parents at Expert PU College

Mangaluru : An orientation programme for students and parents was held on Saturday at Expert Pre-University College, Kodialbail, Mangaluru.

The programme was presided over by Prof. Narendra L. Nayak, President of the Expert Education Institutions. Vice-President Dr. Usha Prabha N. Nayak delivered the keynote address and administered the oath to the students.

Vinay Kumar, a member of the Academic Committee, provided information on academic planning and competitive examinations. Shyam Prasad, Head of AICE, spoke about the role of technology in education and explained various technological initiatives of the institution.

College Principal Prof. Ramachandra Bhat, in his introductory remarks, emphasized the importance of discipline in student life. He said that discipline plays a vital role in helping students achieve their goals and succeed in their academic pursuits.

World Environment Day Celebrated at New Mangalore Port Authority

Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm on June 5 under the theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Future.”

A plantation drive was organised inside the Port premises. Deputy Chairperson S. Shanthi planted a sapling along with Chief Vigilance Officer Padmanabhachar K. and Senior Environment Officer of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Rajashekhar Puranik. Officers, employees, and staff members actively participated in the drive.

NMPA highlighted its commitment to environmental protection through various green initiatives. The Port maintains nearly 649 acres of green belt and has implemented measures such as 100% solarisation, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment, solid waste management, electric vehicles, and shore power facilities.

Speaking at the programme, Rajashekhar Puranik appreciated Mangaluru’s greenery and praised NMPA’s environmental efforts. Deputy Chairperson S. Shanthi stressed the importance of protecting nature and called for collective action to ensure a greener future.
