Before making waves on Billboard, “APT” became the fastest K-pop track to reach 1 billion views on YouTube, outpacing PSY’s previous record of 12 years. By January 31, 2025, BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT” surpassed 1 billion views, achieving this milestone in just 105 days since its release on October 18, 2024. In comparison, PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ achieved this feat in 158 days.
With this achievement, “APT” now ranks as the fifth fastest music video to amass 1 billion views on YouTube, following Adele’s ‘Hello,’ Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito,’ Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You,’ and J Balvin and Willy William’s ‘Mi Gente.’
In addition, on January 13, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced that “APT” received an official BRIT Gold certification in the UK, marking Rosé’s first solo track to receive such recognition. According to the BPI, singles are certified gold after selling 400,000 units, while albums achieve gold status after 100,000 units sold.
Furthermore, the collaboration has set a new benchmark as the biggest male-female duet debut of 2024, surpassing the record previously held by Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight.”

Supreme Court Dismisses plea against Mannat Renovation
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition challenging the renovation of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan’s residence, Mannat, in Mumbai.
A Mumbai resident had filed the petition alleging that the renovation project did not have all the required statutory and environmental clearances.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s senior advocate, Shoaib Alam, argued that the project required approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He also claimed that projects costing more than Rs.5 crore must obtain such approval.
The Supreme Court questioned the intention behind the petition. Chief Justice Surya Kant observed that Mannat is a private residence and its owners are free to renovate or modify their home if they follow the law.
The petitioner’s lawyer also requested that the matter be sent back to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for reconsideration. However, the Supreme Court rejected the request.
The court also clarified that its decision was not influenced by Shah Rukh Khan’s popularity or celebrity status.
Earlier, the National Green Tribunal had dismissed a similar petition. It ruled that the project complied with environmental rules and that all necessary approvals had been granted.
The dispute began in March 2025 when social activist Santosh Daundkar approached the NGT. He challenged the Coastal Regulation Zone clearance issued by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority on January 3.

The petition also alleged that environmental rules were not properly followed during the approval process. However, those associated with the project maintained that all required permissions had been obtained.
The controversy arose after Gauri Khan proposed adding two more floors to the existing six-storey building at Mannat. With the Supreme Court dismissing the plea, the legal challenge to the renovation has come to an end.
