BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Park Jung Min’s highly anticipated zombie apocalypse thriller, ‘Newtopia,’ debuted on Amazon Prime Video on February 7, 2025. Before the release, Jisoo opened up about her experiences with this thrilling series.

In ‘Newtopia,’ Jisoo portrays the character Young Joo, while Park Jung Min takes on the role of Jae Yoon, the male lead. The story follows Jae Yoon, who confronts a zombie outbreak during his mandatory military service. His girlfriend, Kang Young Ju (played by Jisoo), is an engineer starting a new job and eagerly waiting for his return. The series promises a suspenseful and intense storyline that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Directed by Yoon Sung-Hyun, known for his work on acclaimed crime thrillers such as ‘Time to Hunt,’ ‘Bleak Night,’ and ‘Jury,’ the series boasts a powerful narrative. The script was penned by Ji Ho Jin and Han Ji Won, with Ji Won having previously contributed to the Oscar-winning films ‘Parasite’ and ‘Okja.’

In a recent press statement, Jisoo shared her enthusiasm for the project, particularly highlighting the innovative design of the zombies. “During pre-production, we were shown prototypes of the zombies, many of which were completely unlike anything I had ever seen,” she remarked. “I’m eager to see how they translated onto the screen.” She also hinted at the show’s uniqueness, mentioning that some zombies are so distinct they defy traditional portrayals, which she believes will surprise viewers: “I think a lot of people will say, ‘Wow, I never envisioned zombies looking this way.’”

Jisoo further noted how the series balances darker themes with moments of levity. “Whenever things get too intense, different characters step in to lighten the mood,” she explained. “There are numerous instances where characters find humor in challenging situations, giving the audience a chance to laugh.”

In her acting career, Jisoo has made various cameo appearances in several K-dramas. She played a significant role in the 2020 period action-comedy “Snowdrop,” had a minor part in “Dr Cheon and the Lost Talisman,” and is slated to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular webtoon “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.”

Film : Jayam Ravi has spoken emotionally about his ongoing family dispute and divorce case with his wife Aarti. The actor said he will not act in any films until the divorce process is completed.

Speaking at a press conference in Chennai, Jayam Ravi said he remained silent for a long time because he did not want to speak badly about his wife. However, he claimed that false accusations were now being made against him, and he could no longer stay quiet.

The actor said he was not allowed to meet his two children. He added that he had been paying their school fees for the last eight years and had spent nearly Rs 50 lakh on their education and care. He said people were questioning his love for his children without understanding his side of the story.
