Black Sabbath Declares Final Concert: Icons Come Together for an Epic Farewell

Published

on

Black Sabbath, one of the most groundbreaking bands in rock history, has officially revealed the details of their final concert, signaling the closing chapter for heavy metal enthusiasts around the globe.
Scheduled for July 5, this performance will pay tribute to the band’s iconic legacy, featuring the original lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward.

Titled ‘Back to the Beginning’, the concert will be held at a special venue and promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The lineup is truly spectacular, with some of the biggest names in rock set to join Black Sabbath for this historic event. Highlights include performances from renowned acts like Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, and many others. Additionally, a supergroup of rock legends—including Slash from Guns N’ Roses, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine—will also participate in the festivities. Tom Morello, acclaimed for his exceptional guitar skills, will take on the role of musical director for the event.

This concert is not just a celebration of rock; it also has a charitable aspect, with all proceeds divided equally among Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

This performance is especially meaningful as it marks the first time in two decades that the original Black Sabbath lineup will come together on stage. Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman, has faced health challenges in recent years that resulted in the cancellation of multiple shows.

Although the band has previously hinted at retirement, many believe this will serve as their definitive farewell show. With members now in their mid-70s, this concert promises to be a poignant and historic send-off for a group that redefined the landscape of rock music.

Black Sabbath’s journey began in Birmingham, England, in 1968 when guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne came together to form the band. They quickly made a name for themselves with their heavy, dark sound and occult-inspired imagery, which laid the groundwork for the heavy metal genre.

Their trailblazing albums—‘Black Sabbath’ (1970), ‘Paranoid’ (1970), and ‘Master of Reality’ (1971)—remain iconic. Over the years, the band experienced various lineup changes, with Iommi as the sole consistent member. Despite facing internal challenges, Black Sabbath continued to evolve, embracing more experimental and progressive styles in albums like ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ (1973) and ‘Sabotage’ (1975).
