Bike Taxi Services to be Suspended in Karnataka from June 16; High Court Order
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has ordered the suspension of bike taxi services like Ola, Uber, and Rapido across the state from June 16.
Many people, especially in cities like Bengaluru, rely on these bike taxis as an affordable and quick alternative to autos and cabs. Compared to other modes of transport, they are cheaper and help save time in traffic. However, from June 16 onward, these services will be completely banned.
Earlier, on April 2, a single-judge bench had ordered restrictions on bike taxi services. Aggregators like Ola and Uber challenged this decision in appeal. The divisional bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice V. Kameshwara Rao and Justice Srinivas Harish Kumar, heard the case and refused to stay the earlier order.
During Friday’s hearing, the court clarified that a stay could only be granted if the government was in the process of framing new rules to permit bike taxis. However, Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty confirmed that the government has decided not to permit bike taxi services.

Karnataka Celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava with Pride and Unity
The state of Karnataka is celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava today with great pride and enthusiasm. The day marks the formation of the modern state of Karnataka on November 1, 1956, when all Kannada-speaking regions were united to form the then Mysore State. The state was later renamed Karnataka in 1973.

The day also recognizes the achievements of individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the state through the prestigious Rajyotsava Awards, Karnataka’s second-highest civilian honor.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the Karnataka flag and the singing of the state anthem. Government offices, schools, and institutions organized cultural programs showcasing traditional music, folk dances, and art performances. Streets and public buildings across cities and towns were decorated with red and yellow flags, symbolizing the colors of Karnataka.
Many schools and colleges held special assemblies to teach students about the significance of the day. People from all walks of life participated in rallies and events to express their love for the Kannada language.
The festival was not limited to Karnataka alone. Kannadiga communities living in other parts of India and abroad also celebrated the day with equal excitement, organizing cultural gatherings and community events.
