Udupi: Santosh Shetty, the office administrator of Kapu Sri Hosamari Gudi Temple, died on Tuesday after a brief illness.

He was also the owner of Sai Caterers.

Santosh Shetty had been serving as a staff member at the Kapu Sri Hosamari Gudi Temple for the past 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, son, family members and relatives.

The temple management committee, development committee and staff members expressed their condolences on his death.

Udupi: Police have arrested two more persons in connection with the murder of Congress leader and businessman David D’Souza.

The arrested persons have been identified as 41-year-old Sadananda Devadiga from Ermala and 47-year-old Kishore Poojary from Uchila.

With their arrest, the total number of accused arrested in the case has risen to seven.

Police said the two accused allegedly conspired to carry out the murder and provided financial support for the crime.

Police have seized a mobile phone, a car, a bike and cash allegedly used in connection with the murder.

The arrested Accused were produced before the court.

Meanwhile, Raju from Uttar Pradesh, who was injured in police firing, is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Udupi district.

Police said they will take Raju into custody for further questioning after he recovers.

Police suspect that more people may be involved in the murder. Further investigation is underway.

Udupi: A video showing students travelling dangerously on the footboard of a private express bus has gone viral on social media.

The incident was reported on Friday on the route from Katapady to Udupi. Some students were seen standing and hanging from the rear door of the moving bus.

The bus was travelling at speed when the students were seen in the dangerous position. The incident could have put the lives of the students at serious risk.

A person travelling in a car behind the bus recorded the incident on a mobile phone. The video was later shared on social media and attracted strong reactions from the public.

People have questioned why the bus driver and conductor allowed the students to travel on the footboard.

There are several buses operating on this route, yet the students chose to travel in such a risky manner.

The incid ent has also raised concerns about the enforcement of safety rules in private buses. Although doors have been made mandatory for private buses, such incidents continue to occur.

The police department has conducted several drives against dangerous bus travel in the district. However, the latest incident shows that stricter monitoring is still needed.
